I just wanted to thank all those who supported my recent challenge entries. I have not entered many, I have spent most of my time trying to learn from others, learn my new camera and learn photoshop.

At Rest - Digging In This Termite Mound Is Hard Work

I guess my biggest regret with the AT Rest Challenge was the use of the heavy border. Other than that I just loved the shot.

Macro - Deep Inside A Hibiscus

In the Macro challenge the border may have hurt me some but I did like it. These ants were not your average ants, they were as small if not smaller than the head of a pin. The only way I knew they were on the Hibiscus was the black line they created going in and out. I tried to get as close as I could without hitting them with the lens. I guess It was just not close enough for a DPC Macro challenge. But next time I may give everyone a run for their money :)

Both of the above submissions required only level adjustments, cropping and some USM.

I was pleased with the scores I received and I will probably take another break before my next submission.

Thanks again;

Calvus

I gave you a "8" on your "at rest" photo and totally agree on the toning down of the frame.

A tiny bit more contrast would have given more impact to the fur. The dof was good but close to the fur color. Great expression.

On the "Macro" entry like I said on the comments more focus on the ants would have been nice. Other then that I would probably have given you an "8" on that one too. It must have been pretty tough to get that shot.

The ant on the left is looking towards the other two. I figured he was saying "who is this guy with the camera lens stuffed down in this Hibiscus" :)

LOL

It was hard. I hard the tripod as low as it would go and I had to tilt it forward to get it down into the Hibiscus.
