Here's a direct link to the B&H page. I love how the "extras" box suggests purchasing lens cleaning fluid :-)

Whew.. thanks, I've been looking for one of those.

Shipping:

$777.95

I was going to order one for my 30D and one for my Rebel... Since they only have one, I guess I'll have to look elsewhere!

Apart from a few minor cosmetic blemishes, this particular lens is extremely clean inside and out. Included with this lens is a leather slip-on 'lens cap', a fitted aluminum trunk case, and a prodigious measure of ego satisfaction. Weighing in at over 36lbs and an overall length of 33 inches, a sturdy tripod and pan/tilt head is highly recommended. Pack mule not included.

lol :D

Incidentally, OP is correct in saying it's "the chance of a lifetime"; as far as I know, only 10 of these have been built, and Sports Illustrated owns 2 of them...

Yep. Heard something about this a week or so ago here at DPC...

Has B&H got a nice second hand lens.....

It's a monster alright! Nikon goes even bigger. ;)

This is odd because, as sold originally by Canon, a massive, dedicated tripod was included in the price...

Built-to-order by Canon from 1993 to 2005, each lens was hand-crafted at the rate of about 2-per-year and a delivery time of about 18 months. Only a dozen-or-so were ever made. Who bought them? National Geographic magazine and Sports Illustrated are known to own a couple, the Feds probably have a few squirreled away somewhere, and a few well-heeled photo enthusiasts.

uhuh. But sorry, I have NO clue on what to do with that lens ;)

It's worth more now than it was new according to Wikipedia.

The initial price for this lens was US$89,579

that's not so strange, when you think of the rare-ness of the monster.

But as Robert stated part of it is missing. The tripod that came with it. That ought to be worth $10,000 off.

50 ft minimum focus distance. You'd think they could do better than that :)

^ from Idaho lol

If I ever win the lottery this would be my third purchase...first would be a canon camera, second would be someone to carry the beast for me lol.

What the hell you gonna focus on with it at less than 50 feet? The DoF would be oh my damn shallow.

Anyway, it's in my cart, gonna see if B&H will sell it to me on credit. :-D
