You mean that was an actual border? You should know better. I had hoped they were props. |
Well, I have gotten away with similar before:
This was validated just recently, where the original background was a blue wall. I used Digital Anarchy Background Designer on that.
Either way, I only did what almost every entry in the Impressionism challenge did - add texture. Dunno, maybe the first validation was marginal.

Doing what? LOL.
I added the border because the crop I used would have made my image either skinny, off-centered, or I would have had to add background which I KNEW was illegal. I actually did do a version w/o the texture, but liked it less... it seems I should have gone with what I liked less... voters and SC might have been kinder :-D

I'm not sure why this was a DQ .. IMO the border has nothing to do with the original shot, it's just a border and the shot remains as it is. |

Changing the image is changing the image ... but it's a great image in the end. Congrats!
I actually like pushing the edge of the envelope ... but maybe, just maybe, you pushed too far. |

I agree changing the image is changing the image. I actually did a LOT of griping about it during and after Impressionism. But, in the end, I too like pushing theedge and most likely did push too far.
Anyway, thanks... I like how it come out too.

I believe it was the distinct, painted shapes (as opposed to random texture) in the border that got you on this one. It strayed too far into clip art territory. Even the background in your recent validation was more of a random texture, as are the examples you posted. This looks more like individual, placed strokes than texture IMO. |
