Karmat could champion karmic balance as part of the "natural order." Scalvert could argue that only motions that illustrate Newtonian physics could be considered "natural," while ursula could argue that beauty is inherently natural. some of the younger male sc's might champion primal desire as natural, thus defending the sandwich-eating photos. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of SC HQ! |
This is beautiful! Has my vote for the most "enlightened" post in the history of DPC :-)

There must be a special award we can give for this, it's inspired. |

Hence the moniker from the undiscovered country - maybe. I'm all along with all of it, except maybe the fly on the wall bit, because I've heard the SC gets very un-philosophical about flies.
The dead man expounds so eloquently using terms of the philosophy of science. This may be in support of, or as an ironic riposte to, the way in which discussions like this are usually conducted hereabouts. All well and good, I say, that this should be the way to present judgements when such judgements are a pseudo-science. I'd say they judge a pseudo-art, too, but it's not a good time to stir that pot.
Here's the point, though (no, really): Whatever ideology or philosophy or (pseudo-)science or blind faith or whatever you may wish to use to justify the acceptance of your entry, this time, for once, it doesn't actually matter. In this challenge, empiri are being gathered to establish precedent and to start the accumulation of some sort of representative sample.
Jonathan is all padded up and out on the track for the final round of the final game of the Rollerball Series. There are NO PENALTIES.
I went out yesterday and took some pretty lousy shots that mostly failed to arrest motion on account of the lack of daylight. So I stick a chosen few together in ultra basic Photoshop style and now it's there (I would love to improve on it before deadline).
If you want to know, throw it at the wall and see if it sticks, that's my philosophy. |

I certainly enjoyed the thread and I think this whole thing is a can of worms they should not have opened. If you cannot concisely describe your OWN rules you should not set them out there for the community at large.

I entered an out of the box reaction to "Time Lapse", i hope i dont get too slated for not obeying the technicalities of the challenge description. Tho knowing DPC voting i will probably either spectacularly bomb or get a PB... |

I entered an image based on the intelligence offered in this thread. Even if it fails to appease "the Roman 'thumbs down' crowd", I like the image I made. The education and new skills learned was worth the effort, regardless of scores garnered. |

Likewise...although I played it safe rather than push the boundaries of interpretation or the ever lovely SC ;)

Me too, I entered something very safe, mostly to give SC a break :P But the learning was fun and I really like the result. I can't wait to vote on this challenge, I'm just itching to see what everyone has come up with. |

At dawn this morning I got a very interesting but fairly out-of-the-box image. I'm sure it's legal but I wonder if most people would see it as time-lapse. Anyway, it's a moot point because I got a very safe but visually arresting image later today, and that's the one I entered. Yup, I'm actually in... I expect the ribbons to go to wildly creative shots, but I think this one might have a decent score.

I'm in with my 7th edit and 3rd crop. Just can't make up my #^&$*@&$# mind.
Probably get DNMCd to death, but per hahn23, I did learn a bit about how to put together the kind of image I did.
Good luck, everyone!
