I have noticed a strange thing, if I 'save for web' my pic does not look like the one I processed. As you can see from these two pics, the first is how I wanted it, and then SAVED AS, and to check again if I am not perhaps mistaken, the second one I Saved for Web.

Can anyone tell me where to start looking for this miscommunication in CS3, please.

They look nearly identical to me (though the file size is less in the "save for web" version, as expected.) What do you see as different?

Hi Peter !!! I've noticed that too when I save for web, but I figured out that even tho the viewer in Save for Web shows your photo as having the colors all mucked up. . .it doesn't actually save it that way. After you save it for web, if you pull it up and compare it to your larger sized copy, its the same (not the weird colored one you saw in Save for Web). And I'm with with smurfguy, your 2 photos here look the same to me.

That sure is a cool photo by the way :)

Edit: can't type tonite!

yes, they appear to be identical. Does it look different to you now that you have uploaded it?

Thanks guys... ya, feel like a monkey myself, but looking at the 2 pics on my monitor shows a definate 'flatter' image for SFW.... let me try and load them again.

Have to agree, the 2 photos look identical to me. I opened each in separte windows and flicked between them, saw no changes at all.

One of two things is amiss:
1.) You have "proof colors" checked and the proof space is not sRGB
2.) Your working space is not sRGB.
If either of these is true, then save for web will do funny things. That's because it simply strips away any color space information, and assumes sRGB. If the space was not sRGB to start with, one will look different. Once uploaded to the web, woth will look the same again, since the web ignores color space information, and assumes sRGB.

That's it. Thanks, Kirbic. I am working in ProRGB,16 bit, and convert to 8 bit just for final PS touches as I do most of my work in the new CS3 Raw. All of a sudden a lot of things make sense. Kirbic, you are a champion.

what image viewer are you using? It might be set to show images taking less CPU usage.
