Am I confusing perspective with symmetry? the two CAN go together, but lots of shots are taken without any special or creative focus points (just stand up straight and shoot) but seem to be relying on symmetry (which is off most of the time) |

I'm not absolutely sure what your perception of symmetry is (and there's a bazillion different variations on it here), but i did find a good definition of perspective here. Definitely agree that there are a number of images that don't necessarily have a whacky viewpoint, but perspective can mean many things (as noted in that Wikipedia definition).
What i did notice, is that there are certainly a good number of great images in the challenge! :O) |

to me symmetry is a perfect balance of lines and shapes. the same spacing on each side of the shot, perfectly centered. I've only seen one or two shots that had that and a great focus point. I'm sure I will be seeing those on the front page or at least top ten. |

Okay, so now I understand your definition of symmetry, but I'm not sure that it needs to come into play here.
Description: Use perspective to create a dramatic effect with your photograph
That's a fairly broad description (and not necessarily symmetry IMO)
:O)

That's exactly what I'm trying to say (maybe a little language barrier)
this challenge is all about perspective and creative ones at that. Not symmetry, but a lot of shots seem to be more about symmetry. |

I know I am bummed I missed it, but work was out of control. I barely had an hour or so to shoot for this challenge and fit an edit in around three in the morning. :) |
