Nope, just witnessing the demise of TS! I welcome all suckers with open arms, but it seems TS is becoming the IN place to be, regardless of suckiness. I was here at the start when you were a sucker because your scores were sucky. Now, like DPC is becoming, it is about names not what you are in challenges. |
I have been reading the posts around 11/07 as directed, and came to this one. If it's any sort of consensus that I don't qualify as a "sucker" that's just fine with me. But in my defense, I have over 50 entries with a score in the 4's and 3's, and my overall average is a truly mediocre 5.6.
Why am I interested in Team Suck? because I love what y'all do with OOBIEs and YAPPIEs, and I'd like to contribute.
It's up to y'all.

As far as I'm concerned, you are more than qualified to be a TS member. It's a state of mind, a willingness to help people, be positive and understanding. And, you are all of those things! Plus, our dubious leader did already approve you... so, pick a team already! I welcome you with open arms. |

Of the poems I have found so far, this is by far the strangest, the most off-the-wall, and thus the most appealing to me, especially inasmuch as I grow rosemary and cook a lot of lamb :-)
But why is it considered to be a "breach of Corinthian principles"?

You do qualify - read a little further and you will see some arguments that defend your inclusion in TS. IMO, sucking is a state of mind rather than some quantitative set of scores. |

Yeah, I figured that out as a kept putt-putting along. But then again, I don't want to be a bone of contention, either :-(

All I need is for a team to adopt you, and I'll add you to the scripts. Speaking of which, is there a volunteer willing to run my WWW-accessible scripts next week while I'm possibly away from the warm glow of an internet connection? PM me if you are, and I'll pick one to be "Replacement-Meyers".

esp as I took it with my new D40, all set on auto as I've not yet read instruction manual!!! Woohoo! |
But I am considering that I was up to my "important parts" in snow for 15 minutes while taking mine! |
LOL!!!! Oh OK in that case I understand...and yesterday I managed to end up walking backwards out of a barn, with a wheelbarrowload of *ahem* horse-processed hay, and managed to end up backing ass first into the cows' watertrough and sitting down in it! Got soaking wet but at least I had the perfect chance to leave early :-)
And I understand too that finally I can actually get a decent score...

I promise to bust anyone's balls if they have a bone to pick.
Since the Novice team has the strangest poem, is that the one? Or Out-of-Focusers, or Butterflies? |

I'll let you guys duke it out. Put me with whoever begs the hardest, or fights the dirtiest, or cares the least, whatever :-) I'm easy. But that was my favorite of the 3 poems I saw, yes.

To the Big Bear :
There is no such consensus. Discussion, yes. But we disagree here, just in a nicer way (usually) than is oft seen on other areas and sites.
The consensus is that Team Suck is about MUCH more than having a sucky or mediocre score. The ability to think beyond the DPC box when shooting an entry. The courage to enter a beloved photo, even when you know it will bomb score wise. Team Suck is a mindset, not a score set.
In *my* opinion, you are more than welcome to join our ranks. I think that you're going to be a wonderful addition, and I look forward to seeing you around more.
Now - if you REALLY feel you belong, you have to pester Susan ( snaffles) for her infamous brownie recipe !
Welcome Big Bear.

Oh OK cause you can't cut and paste into PMs, here goes...
Brownie recipe (can be doubled)
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup margarine (or butter if preferred)
1 tsp vanilla
3 tbsps water
OPTIONAL 1/2 cup chopped nuts or similar foreign bodies
Sift sugar, cocoa and flour together into a bowl. Add all other ingredients and beat for at least 2 minutes (beater setting on medium seems best). Fold in any foreign bodies. Pour batter into a greased 8-inch pan. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes. Let cool, cut into squares and EAT!

So fingernail and toenail clippings work in this recipe? By suck standards, they aren't that different from nuts, right? I mean, they are composed of proteins, they are crisp, they hold up well to heat and retain their texture, etc etc...

Go to the first page of this thread and you will see a list of who is on which team.
You just enter your shots like normal and at the end of the challenges, the scores are calculated by a script of meyers. |

go to the beginning of this thread and you'll see the breakdown of the teams
we don't "compete" in any kind of DPL-sense, but scores are tallied (somehow) by Meyers and the team that Sucks The Least for the week is the "winning" team that gets the honor of voting on the OOBIE for that week.
also there's something about the highest scorer for each challenge, who is "punished" by having to comment on all other TSers' entries for that challenge - the Momentary Lapse of Sucking award
...anyone else want to fill in the information gaps I just left? :) |

And it really sucks when you have the highest score in a challenge among team suck members with a 5.4. Now that sucks bigtime. |

OK, I been all the way to page one, and that was a heck of a slog until I realized I could reverse my reverse and get it on top :-)
So now, perhaps the Fearless Leader might want to update the links to nomination and voting pages on that first post, since both linked examples are locked?

Just to note here, I don't query this page to find out who is on each team. I keep my own copy (I don't know how to programmatically parse that team breakdown), so it's important that people PM me with team changes. |

I noticed that too, but the locked thread for the OOBIE/YAPPIE noms has a link in the final post to the new thread. We're due for a new "headquarters" anyway, since this thread is getting so big, so whoever does that can update the link at that time.
And for good measure, here's the link to the new nominations thread.... |
