Not meaning to hijack, but would be really interested in how this was done (perhaps another thread). |
You could do worse than read these posts, from the bottom, up, to get an idea of what that journey was like this year.
Some more in these posts (with some overlap in entries). Also these and these as well.
My consistency in tagging/labeling is a wee bit suspect, so sorry that it is spread across several categories. Maybe that'll give you some answer to your question though. Not sure of a good way to get them displayed in reverse chronological order, but they make more sense in that direction. This one and this one lay out the starting point while this is something of a culmination.

Thanks! I realized that when I began reading here, I'd already read this particular thread of posts last year, and so I'm surprised to learn this is you, ad that this is how you started what has turned out to be a very nice collection of portraits. I'll read on. |

This quote you supplied from Keith Carter (one of my favourite photographers) is surprising and encouraging:
"When I go up to people, I'm always nervous. That never goes away. I figure they are going to tell me no. I mean, why should they give me their time. So I just go and I just do it and I smile and I ask and I get right there. Sometimes they are so startled, they say 'sure' and sometimes they don't." |

I really enjoyed that whole documentary. It is exceptionally well done and he comes across as a really nice guy. Somehow I want to take a class or two with him, some day. |

I remember ErinM mentioning to me that either she took that class, or that it was in the same place as a workshop she did. My memory sucks. :-(
By the way, Holy. Freaking. Awesome. |
