Zeus broke his tie out stake this morning. Both Zeus and Kato have been missing since 7 a.m. this morning. Im so worried because Zeus is dragging a 30' tie out cable. He could get tangled and stuck in the woods and we might not find him. I have been treking through the woods all morning. i am so upset. Now I am bawling my eyes out. Sorry to dump, but I needed an outlet.

What about the dog chip things, do they have them?

I too hope they return to you soon. It would be driving me crazy if any of my gang went missing. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

Of course they do, they are SLED dogs, and pulling is their life. I had one once, used a cable between garage and house instead of a stake, with the running cable sliding on that. He couldn't get the leverage to yank that one.

But I digress. In all likelihood they'll come wandering home when it gets cold and dark. Buck up!

Tammy, I too wish you luck with Zeus and Kato. I expect they will return when they get hungry.

Hi everyone...Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. They have wondered before, but usually come home with in a few minutes. They both have tags and ID's. I'm very concerned about the lead getting tangled on something and Zeus being stuck. Kato wont leave his side and is afraid of his own shadow. I have notified the Animal control in my town and the surrounding town. I have also notfied the local animal shelter. I hope like heck they will wnader home before too long, we are supposed to get some nasty weather tonight. Thanks for your support.

Hi Tammy;
If one of them shows up be sure to carefully study it's actions. If it even seems a little bit that it wants you to follow it, don't hesitate. I had a long legged hunting beagle once. I lived in a remote area and the dog ran free most of the time. It would almost always pair up with a much larger dog like a German Shepard and they'd chase rabbits and such together. My next door neighbor was missing his German Shepard a few days when my beagle showed up in his back yard acting kinda funny. He finally figured out that "Snooper" wanted him to follow. About a mile back in the woods he found his dog complete with the chain that was stuck under a stump. Happy ending. I hope your dog returns soon.

Hi everyone:
Great News!!! As of about 30 minutes ago they are home. They were about two miles down the street and another two miles in the woods. The Husky was wrapped around a tree and stuck because of the lead. The shepard didnt leave his side. we were drvivng around and we heard a very distant barking. we trekked in and called and they barked. Thank god.
thank you all for your kind words.

Great news tammy!

You were right to worry about him getting stuck too - Sounds like you were lucky in that your perseverance helped find them safe and well. Well done.

its kinda funny. they werent close to the road at all. But we live in the country, and they were in the woods. with all the snow on the ground and the cold weathr..Their barking just echoed. (thank god) If there had been no snow, We would not have had a trial to follow. they got a lot further than I thought they would before Zeus got tangled.
I am sooo very happy, but I am physically and emotionally wiped out.
