Don, at first I thought your scores were 6,6,6, and that the world of suck was coming to an end. Then I realized it was comments. What a relief. ;) The devil is in the details.

I have 16 comments on my SP, all but one are positive. I think people are just being nice, because the score is 5.1. I'd like them to be nice with their votes too, but that's asking a lot of these voters.

Sometimes I look at peoples profiles and see aver. vote cast is below 5. I find it hard to understand what criteria they are using for their ratings. There are so many fine photos on this site, that I can't see how a person could feel that more than half of them are below average.

The number of the beast was DCLXVI, which with Arabic numerals would have to be 9876543210. I'm not a pedantic stickler for detail, I'm...

Oh.

I think you'll find that more than half of the population have an intelligence of or below the average for the group.

You may want to upgrade your photoshop or find a raw converter program.

Kelli, Check out this thread I started a while back about RAW. I use the free program "Raw Shooter Esentials". If you can't find it, I have a copy of it.

Raw Conversion

Thanks Bob. That's what I'm using, I guess I just haven't actually figured it out yet.

On another note... I'm playing around with using digital backgrounds for the Christmas portraits I'm doing on Friday. They don't have a tree up yet, nor decorations. Since I don't have backgrounds, I thought this would be the way to go. Here's something I was playing around with this morning (not for Christmas). Tell me what you think...

Have you been to the Adobe website to download the latest updates for the RAW files it supports? I open all my RAW files with PS and when you click on the file to open it, it will automatically open a whole dialogue with your conversion options.

LOL! I went to this site backgrounds and got a background. Then I used the extraction tool on the baby from a previous picture, cut carefully, then resize to fit your background and copy and paste, you can move it around. Then I got the wings from a free clip art site and cut out the butterfly in the middle and copied them separately to the picture and blended them in. I stuck them where I wanted over the child and used the eraser to blend them (bring back the child over top). There are probably easier ways, but it really only took a few minutes. This is a bit sloppy because I only did it to show someone how it works.

edit to add: As I understand it from the site, you can do this for personal use, but you can't sell this commercially.

I have been getting a wealth of terrific comments on my Self Portrait, even though it is at a lowly 4.6. Hope everyone's entries are doing well. Can't wait to see those results.

this is doing much better then i would have guessed, seeing how i done it in the last 45 minutes of the challenge. I even got a nice comment from Deb and that make me happy no matter what the score ends at.

My free study and my fairy tale shots are very similar in votes and views. But free study is about a point higher. :)

I will join in the sound off as long as you guys promise not to abuse me too terribly badly, or throw tomatoes, or say really bad things... Every once in awhile I screw up. I assure you that I didn't screw up this badly on purpose.
