Im trying to get my new site up as well and plugging the calendar on the front page, I will fine tune it later but if you have a min have a look and tell me what you think so far... //www.syclone3d.com I mite buy a new domain name for the photography but cant decide on a name at the moment and keeping up 2 domains already is more work than I need at the moment ;)
I will be putting a special section in my links to reflect the blog and the sites of all those involved as well but that wont happen for a few days now as I barely have enough time to pee in the next couple days... lol

Site looks ok but it is ungodly slow loading pictures, even thumbs. |

I cant tell you how long they will take. I am doing everything I can do to put the pressure on the publisher to get them printed as quick as possible. |

| Anything to report. Anymore paper or TV experiences from anyone. All seems to have gone quiet. No news on the progress of printing? I have people here itching to buy a calendar over here!! |

I just got an email this morning from one of our news stations, they wanna do a story... oh I hate tv cameras! LOL I have done about 10 news stories in the past year and half for my business and about my daugher.
I am going to email back and see when they want to do it. |

I'm remembering now why I don't subscribe to any of the papers in this area --
one of them ran it, but slaughtered it horribly (they tried to rewrite the press release given), when they ran the teeny tiny correction buried on about page 7, they still didn't have it right!
The other two papers, to the best of my knowledge, just ignored it. I guess they would rather report on the vandalisms of a greenway and 4 shootings in the past 2 weeks. . . .

Guys, the orders have really halted. I havent gotten one in several days.
When I ordered the calendars, I had to order the 500 to get the price break. We were 246 shy of 500, so I had to eat that cost... I am hoping the orders start coming in from the blog!
I am going to start a massive email campaign for these things too.
I will keep you guys updated on the progress of printing. There were some problems with the file sizes and the files had to be redone, so there was a delay this week with ordering. |

What problem with the file sizes?
Even for a charity I don't think people are prone to buy something they can't see a sample of. I ordered a batch to distribute around and I think that may generate further orders once in the hands of key people.
Also did anyone get feedback on the ticket to get this project listed under community projects and/or a byline on the front page of dpc? That would be mega-exposure, either way.

One of the women in my pic told me she ordered 10 thru the website but that she was not sure that it went thru. She said she placed the order and then didn't see anything that looked like a confirmation. Do you know if Ellen from Ohio's order went thru? (Oh and her mom ordered some too! So cute!)
Have faith Erica - I really feel that you will be getting rid of any extra calendars that you have. Like [user]routerguy666[/user] said, people want to see the product. The jazzercise site I go to is a big supporter of SGK and we are going to put some out there and maybe get some more orders. It's all gonna work out alright!

Well all of the files had to be PDF, and when I got them from JoJo, I combined them all into 1 file. I guess somewhere along the line, some of the files were measuring 9x12 instead of 8x10...etc... So I had to go back in and edit all the files and combine them again.
Got it all fixed though. |

Also wanted to note once I get mine in hand more orders should follow. I know of one person that may order 130 or more if he likes them.

Dont be too worried, we wont let you be stuck with them. I could probably have ordered more but was just trying to be cautious. I am thinking that I will probably be able to order my original order again as my mum (November) is starting to get orders in her town after the paper coverage. And she is going to her gardening club so I told her to give it good coverage there too.
Keep us up up to date on the progress. |
