I'm making a presentation for the annual fire department dinner/awards.

I've got two songs picked out so far...

---Bette Midler's "Wind beneath my wings" for a tribute to a fallen comrade,
---Raffi's "The wheels on the bus" for when we were tearing apart a school bus.

However, I still have several sections that I'm not sure what to choose. I want upbeat and fun songs (without being crude, I know take away all the fun). I need songs for the following sections....

---"Training" Various training we've done
---"Parades" parades we've been in
---"Aliens Among Us" Echo and the bunniemen (sp?) - People are Strange
---"The Chief, Hard at Work" Brad Paisley - Making that Easy Money
---"The Real World" These are actual emergency calls we went on.
---"Fun and Family" These are pictures of us just having fun and our familyies at various events.
---"We Even Love Each Other" Barney's "I love you"

If anyone has any ideas I would be greatly appreciative. I was asked to do this today and our dinner is next Saturday (the 8th of December).

Thanks in advance,

Nathan

edited to add a section I forgot, and update

Brad Paisley - Making that Easy Money

I did a presentation for our flight team at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and it was a hit. We've got that same running joke. We work our butts off on ground while they sit...sometimes. ;)

Thanks, that fits perfectly (once I edited it).

The real world-

Mad World
Gary Jules (cover of Tears for Fears)

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad world
[Mad World lyrics on //www.metrolyrics.com]

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad World
Enlarging your world
Mad World.

It's not a fun upbeat song but seams like it would fit.

I was just going to suggest that one. But if you're looking for an upbeat number... how about 'Real life' by Bon Jovi.

---"Training" Various training we've done
Eye of the tiger (at the risk of being stereotype)
Dont let me be misunderstood - Kill Bill OST (not so much the lyrics as the intro... if your part of the PPT is short)
Sparks - The Who
Runnin Free - Stillwater (Almost famous OST)

---"The Real World" These are actual emergency calls we went on.
Fix you or The Scientist - Coldplay
Destination Anywhere - Jon Bon Jovi

---"Fun and Family" These are pictures of us just having fun and
our families at various events. [/quote]

Waltz into me - Hootie & Blowfish
There's also 'Somewhere over the rainbow' but Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version.Perfect end theme song ..

For the calls portion, why noy use one of the Hero songs. There is Foo Fighters, There Goes My Hero, and Hero from Nickelback. While just a touch cheesy, I think that either may fit and keep things upbeat. Maybe even the newer Daughtry called Crashed. Its pretty strong for presentations.

Think the songs authors will give you permission when you ask them?

Why would you need permission from them for a presentation? No one is making money off of their songs. Now, let's not hijack the thread until he has all the songs he needs.

Another good one for family and friends might be Roco DeLuca's Colorful.

Thank you everyone.

I got some good ideas, and I think a pretty darn good presentation now.

I'd post it somewhere, but the file size currently sits at about 132 mb's and I still have more photo's to add once I get them from the local newspaper on Monday. I thought of resizing the photo's smaller, but since it's going to be projected up to 12 feet wide, I decided to leave them all full size. There are a total of about 180 slides for around 15 minutes worth of presentation.
