Just thought I would throw that out there. I would love to buy one right now, but I'm still saving my pennies. Free Shipping too!

Many thanks for posting that! I canceled my "pre-order" at Ritz, which I've been whining about here.

Now I should allegedly have one by Tuesday -- hooray!!!

So you finally got your long awaited friend. So now you have to wait again, while the batteries charge. Hope its all that you wanted and that the wait was worth it.

Oh, it found its way to the charger pretty quickly :)

I imagine that I could just as easily use my D70s battery, but I guess I'll wait out the charger anyway. I guess if I've waited this long, I can wait another 30 minutes or so for this to finish charging.

I guess I'll ask the question though... is there any difference between this battery and the others I already have...?

I thought I could use my D50 batteries with the D200 but I was wrong I know that the D50 batteries worked in the D70.

I think however that if you've got newer batteries (EN-EL3e) with the three contact leads it will work but I'm just guessing as I haven't seen what is going into the D300.

If you have EN-EL3e it works on D50, D70, D80, D200 and D300

Alan, the D70s battery won't work in the D300, but the D300 one will work in the D70s. Make sense? I specifically asked in the store when I bought mine.

Ah -- interesting! Thanks for letting me know that. I hadn't noticed the three contacts on the new battery, compared to two on the old ones.

Congratulations on all the new owners. I'd love to hear your subjective opinions, as you use it, whether then new CMOS sensor really addresses the noise in the older CCD models.

I really like my D80, and the noise is better (well, more acceptable looking) than I was getting on my RebelXT. But I'm definitely losing resolution at higher ISOs. And I need them!

I was just down at my local camera shop and they have 6 of em..at $1799

Have they removed the D200 from the shelves in the States?

I went to several big shops here in Tokyo, and they ONLY have the D300 for sale now

I think the D200 is still available online. I remember seeing it while shopping for the D300. :-)

Regarding the original post, Amazon.com is now selling the D300 for $1,999.95 + $24.95 shipping (it actually comes from Cameta Camera). That's a hefty mark-up.

I also want to take this opportunity to say "Eeeeeeeeeee!" OK, I know it's unseemly to squeal, but I just saw that my D300 from Beach Camera is shipping! I'm so excited. I had started to worry they were just leading me on.

At last look, Beach still had D300s in stock at the regular $1,799.99 USD price. I'm paying $50 for 3-day shipping (how come they can provide free Federal Express shipping on lenses but not on cameras?), but that's still much cheaper than the tax I would have paid if purchased locally.
