It's probably people submitting stuff they already have in their collection... illegal or not, it probably happens more than we would realize.

You would think they would at least try to not be so obvious about it, I mean true we don't know who it is, but you would think that they would atleast wait a day or two, or even an hour before submitting, or atleast put a little thought into it. But I guess that Just my opinion... |

It's the 'hurry up and wait' syndrome :)

Or their cat, or kid, or the sunset if they're in the right time zone.
Some submissions may also be for the challenge which has just closed, and were in the process of being uploaded at the deadline.
But seriously, when the recent, no-editing allowed "Past" challenge was announced, I was at the computer, and I knew exactly what I wanted to use (and had it around). I set it up, shot it, and had the very first submission in the challenge after about 40 minutes; I put a note with it because my EXIF would show it shot the day before the challenge ... And it turned out to be my highest-scoring submission in months.

I don't get it...lol I'm just the opposite. My submission usually seems to be in the 11th hour. I always mean to get it in sooner but it rarely happens.
The thing is though, is that I'm not usually a procrastinator. Actually Sunday's are usually a good day for me to go out and shoot. Then by the time I upload and go through my process of elimination, yada, yada, yada....before I know it I'm racing the clock and feeling time nipping at my toes.

That's what was so funny about the situation for me -- I am a champion procrastinator, and even if I have an idea for a challenge, I often put it off until the end of the week. I have submitted at 11:58 pm Server Time as well ....
I actually had two "speed entries" where I was the first entry submitted to the challenge, around the same time, but the other one wasn't quite as good. |

They may just be like me. I go on a lot of weekend shoots and take 200-300 photos of everything and anything from every angle imaginable. By Sunday evening when the new challenge is announced there is a good chance I have something to enter.
But, like some of you say, I seldom submit until the last day.

But those would not be eligible unless there are "special rules" in force for that challenge, allowing submissions from outside the challenge dates. |

Hmmm, I wonder how many people actually follow the rules about dealines... Oh, well, benefit of doubt, I guess.
