Hi All

Just catching up after a week away from a PC.

I have had a quick look through the entries and a good few to me look to have had more than just some "simple" sharpening or noise reduction i.e. editing outside the rules.

I can not recall whether this challenge was totally open in respect of editing potential.

What do others think - IMHO I can see obvious use of colour filters and one image has an in camera date stamp on it which if my memory serves was from August!!!!

If I have time (pressure of work?) I will vote but for the first time (and I am such a new member) I wonder if I should be asking for some DQs.

if you feel that an image is illegal, u should suggest it for dq.

The more one knows about post-production software the more you know how to edit legally. Not all techinques use filters in post.

Before I knew about desaturation for instance I thought it was all illegal, now I know it can be done legally. That why I like sometimes when the challenge is over and you can discuss a particular picture and how it was done.

As long as you don't spot edit , seems like quite a few techniques can still be used as I've learned these few weeks.

Yes, I have just reread the rules and it allows:-

"This includes levels, b&w conversion, hue/saturation, sizing/rotating, curves"

The ref to levels, curve & hue/saturation echo your point.

I am still (always will be) learning how to improve and get the best out of my images - just this evening while preparing my "Rest" entry I re-worked the image for printing on my Epson, also trying to understand about colour profiles, still not 100% happy. I have had some prints made by an online service and the colour was a match for what I saw on the screen, I would like to get the Epson to match more closely?

In the light (no pun intended) of reading the rules again I will appraise the entries more closely. My initial view that "a good few" were illegal, is more probably a handful only.

Indeed, if I had the time I might tweak/amend my "Rest" entry but I will not unsubmit it because I welcome knowing what others will think of any images I offer in the challenges.
