Hi there, I removed your image because while you don't consider it an "outtake", it is an "alternate image" for the challenge and thus, has to wait, unless you seek separate comments on the image itself in another thread as a "free study" type image where you don't link it to any specific challenge. |

No, didn't look for a comment, it was a humorous image, only fun was intended ;)

A little better, but it is still too low... What the hell is wrong with the photo... I'd like to know if it is something technical or it is just not a matter of uninteresting photo... |

Could mean there is a link from an outside web site to your photo. Happened once to me -- got 5859 views during voting, but only 201 votes, with this one:
Makes your ratio seem huge! |

Yowza, you're right! As long as the photo doesn't get stolen & used by someone else, I'm constantly worried about that ...

No, not as long as the challenge is in voting. You must have a very interesting picture. If it was hotlinked, you' d have a lot more views - this got 19.300 views within 6 weeks, it is hotlinked to several peoples pages at stumbleupon.com. Try a google serarch of "tano_gooch stumbleupon", and you will see if there is a link somewhere. |

I would get satisfied with a +6... I'm still unsatisfied.

nah, its not that high.. I think Annpatt was posting score of 7.9, and I have seen 4 or 5 shots that are ribbon contenders, might aint one of them.. as long as I keep up my run of top ten finishes, I'll be happy (although a ribbon WOULD be nice). |

Still not happy... It looks like low scores get more comments? My photo is not going well and I have 6 comments... The weird thing is that all the comments to my photo are telling me that the photo is very good...
Do you all have the same behavior, low score with plenty of good comments?
This happened with my some of my previous challenges... I cannot understand why they got low scores.... |

I'm wondering about this too. There is a DPC club where they try to comment on 100% of the challenge entries. I know it is caring, thoughtful, etc. But if the comments are just positive comments on a so so photo, they are really counter productive.
I know that votes can be deceiving, good photos can get a low score. I was thinking that at least I could count on people's comments to let me know if the photo resonated with some, that some really liked it. If people make comments to just make the photographer feel better - then - I kind of wish they wouldn't. I'd like comments to be genuine. I've just started realizing that this might be the case. Haven't asked to 100 club.
my 2 cents. LG |

People don't like to leave negative comments, and especially, people don't like receiving them. I left once a comment saying that a picture was poorly done and the photographer went beserk! Also, make a small negative comment about certain aspects of the photo and suddenly (in most cases) your comment is non helpful anymore :( Say "Great photo!" and leave no other information and guaranteed the photographer will consider your comment helpful.. duh!
Indeed, there is this "club" where you get ribbons for commenting on all the entries in a challenge and that combined with what I've mentioned above, will result in positive comments and bad scores. They will say, "Nice idea, needs a little bit of this or that" and slam you with a 2 or 1. What would be really nice is to actually show the score given along with the comment.

Quick comment drop down wouldn't hurt either. In voting section, if someone gives less than 4, they have to select "Negative" comment options such as "too light" "too dark" "object is not affective" "dead colors" etc. same for the good comments "Good lighting" "unique perspective" "nice composition" "nice colors" etc. and maybe a text box to add our own (keep the original text box)
This way commenting would be much easier and more people, who are "lazy" to type, would just click instead :) |
