The subject says it all.

And the really, really coolest of them all are the ones with more comments made than received, and comments consisting of more than 4 letters. :-P That's an effort I can certainly appreciate.

Great subject. Think I'll catch up on a few comments today myself. :-D

Since I have to vote anyway, it makes more sense for me to comment on most of my votes.

With dialup, I have to wait so long for the images to load, what's another minute to examine a shot in more depth and comment.

So my ratios are going up!.....8>)

I have more comments made than recieved. I hardly can get people to comment on my stuff. Not a big deal. The only thing though, I feel that my comments are not helpful as I am still learning...

I'm going for that.....only about 100 to go and I'll be there.

At what point will you NOT be learning? :-P

We all have something to offer. The best comments IMO are the ones that come from the heart, good or bad, and tell what the viewer's reaction to the photo is in general.

Sure, technical comments are fine too. I usually only leave feedback of that nature on areas that I'm comfortable with or are quite obvious and easily fixed. You'll grow in that area and get more comfortable the longer you're here and actively participating. A side challenge or two can also add strength to commenting skills.

Anyway...jump in there! BTW - Don't fret over potential, or real, nasty PM's. They are far and few between and when I get one I usually find it humorous that someone has gotten that worked up over a comment. :-)

I don't have a 3X ratio like Melethia, but I have about 2x more made than recieved. So I guess I'm a cool kid, even though I didn't comment much on this round.

I got a PM from another DPC member that brought up a good point which I failed to say in my original post...

the comments should be of substance.

For instance:

Instead of "cool shot", something more like "cool shot, the lighting really works here" is 10x better! Now you've given a reason that the shot is 'cool' and the photographer can recognize that he/she has succeeded in a certain area.

Comments given: 1808

Commments Received: 1093

My goal is to have 2500 given by the end of the year

Guess I better get a move on huh?

I'm finding it hard to listen to you tell other people to comment more when you yourself have less comments given than recieved.

Worry about yourself, then lecture others.
Wait...no, don't lecture others at all.

What comes around, goes around.

Pay it forward.

I have been going through peoples portfolios and commenting. I have been grabbing random users off the "Whos Online" charts becuase I did at one time try going through the "least commented photos" and found alot of those people were no longer here and they had no chance of being marked helpful.

Please play nice. :)

It hardly matters where the idea came from, if we all comment more then we can all have good comment made to received ratios.

Seems like I've got some work to do to catch up to you 2x people!
