Shannon scalvert and Laurie L2 invited a couple of us Connecticut local DPCers to a last minute GTG at Mystic Seaport on Sunday. Nick nico_blue, Steve brownsm, and I all had cameras in hand and joined them in search of some killer late fall shots.

Here are a few shots I took from the afternoon.

Crystal blue skies met us at the Mystic Seaport

DPC ganged up on all the staff

Steve and Nick tried to stay warm waiting for Shannon to get his latest ribbon winner...

Laurie showed off her nautical skills in a discussion of star charts and sextants with Carl

A couple more from today

Thanks to Shannon and Lauire for organizing it at the last minute and inviting us 'locals'.

added a couple more pix

Yah. Just that if anyone had thought to mail me, I'd have driven down.... Was to loose ends today, no Patriots game :-)

Next time this happens I would like to be on the list as well. We didnt have much to do today either and would have made the ride down as well. Nice shots Pete.

Sorry guys! If we had only known folks wouldn't mind travelling so far. It sounded like everyone would be up to do this one again, so next time we'll make sure the notice goes out in advance.

Here are some of my shots. I'll post more after I decide which ones will get entered into a challenge.

Checking out Shannon's next ribbon winner!

Doh! Originally it was just Laurie and I, but I did a quick profile search for "Connecticut" and PMed a few others. I didn't even think about Mass. :-/

I can drive to Providence and hook up with Laurie, see? So only one car needed from there on... or why don't YOU reverse that and come UP to the Cape with her some others one weekend?

There's a motel right by my house that "owes" me, so I can even get very advantageous room rates. And of course the Chez Robert restaurant comps a lot of meals. Ask Ray Ethier and beetle :-)

Oh my yes... and if you ever decide to make the trip... do tell me as I would definitely want to avail myself of the sumptious meals one can get at "Chez Robert". The chef is definitely a "culinary savant" in the true sense of the meaning.

Do treat yourself to this wonderful opportunity... you will NOT regret it.

For such an impromptu GTG, this was a great group! We're gonna have to do this again. ;-)

Here's a few of the "people" pics. For some reason, I didn't have a single shot of bassbone. I think he was [wisely] avoiding me.

Aww, I don't have any pictures of bassbone, either. Next time, Peter, next time!

My snaps:

scalvert taking a picture of, erm, next ribbon winner?

brownsm and nico_blue shivering again

More chimping, but this time Nico looks on with awe at Shannon's shot:

and finally, one more of Shannon:

Good stuff guys! I especially like everyones chimpin' pictures. It is hilarious to watch photogs in operation - especially between shots.

Nick nico_blue did get me in one photo in the chemist's shop, so I have proof for my wife that I was there instead of the Harp and Hound pub down the block!

A great time, it looks like the light got better after I left (no surprise there). Make sure to give me a call next time.
