Autumn Lunchtime Bliss
Question: Anyone else been having trouble freezing up and being unable to comment? I'll keep trying.

PUBLIC APOLOGY for riding herd on previosities. Having a helluva time trying to process today's pic - teething on the Gimp - finally. Sure would like to post my own previosities now.
And ErikV, I really really like your heron.

No harm done, no 'pology needed : )
It's good that you are experimenting with the new software. I am sure that someone here uses Gimp and would give you some comments with pointers if needed, so post a current one if you have it. Feedback may help with the learning curve with Gimp.

In one of the comments I read today, someone (was it cogerox) asked about a softbox. I showed this setup in an earlier side-challenge and bring it out again for anyone who is interested. You can buy one of these at Calumet (Around $70) or you can make your own. Approximate directions: Take a large box and cut out the sides (leaving sturdy posts at the corners). Staple or glue translucent white fabric to all the sides (well, except the front) and there you have it.

I agree, no need to apologize at all. This was a lively and fun discussion, and in the end motivated me to go out and take photos right after work yesterday afternoon instead of diving in the fridge for a beer. Good thing too, because the light was great yesterday afternoon, but it is pretty dismal today. So tnun, I have you to thank for the heron picture! |

The more I look at this the more I dislike what I did in processing. I was hoping to emphasize that the birds and the streaks are kind of lined up. Plus I thought it would be cool to get a dreamy effect out of it. But it did not turn out quite right lol.

This isn't straight water but it is a water based drink so I hope it counts.
