Is there a way to block my photos from being saved from my Smugmug gallery? I have them blocked from being shared in forums and such but can't figure out how to lock them from being right clicked and saved. Thanks for any help!!! |

It's done at the Gallery level
Click on the gallery you want to protect
Choose Customize Galley in the Gallery Tools drop-down
Near the bottomish is Security and Privacy
Click Yes for protected
(I think you can do this for all levels of subscriptions) |

It's not like adding right-click protection is going to stop any but the most casual of thieves, but it's there in the Customize Gallery menu, under Security and Privacy, just under External Links? It's called "Protected?"
Good luck! |

There's the obvious "protected" option under "Security and Privacy" in the customize gallery section. But all that does is slow down the process. Once an image has been viewed on a computer, it has been received and stored on a computer. It's a simple matter to pull it out of the cache. Or, if you're using Firefox, just go to the media page and save the image directly.
So you have two choices:
1) Limit the size of what you display to the point that you don't have to worry whether someone is downloading a copy of the image, or
2) Watermark your images.

I have the right click feature enable on my smugmug site but like mentioned before it wont always stop some one from getting a photo off the net.

I will make it easy for yall. In the customize option in the footer section paste this code:
Just change the name to yours.

Thanks Rex. I don't understand where I paste this too though. I go to my customize section but I don't see the "footer" section you speak of. |

from your smugmug home page click--->"control panel"-------->"customize tab"------>"customize"------>at the very bottom is a footer section. Paste it in there.
do you have a standard account? I think standard account may not have that option.

Just upgrade to power user if you can. It is $59.95. The difference being $20 from what you have. And they will prorate that to how ever many months you have left before renewal. It will be worth it trust me.

What does that code that you posted do? Can I use it for sure if I upgrade to power user? |

That code gives the user the message that my images are protected under copyright law when they right click on a photo within my website.
over at //www.smugmug.com/price it shows Power Users can "Completely Customize" compare what you have now and what a power user gets. It is worth the money.
