Hmmm... I really don't care for the navigation all that much. It took me a few clicks to figure out that "Published Work" was where I wanted to go to see pictures (mainly because the "main menu" is so much smaller than the "audio menu" it didn't catch my eye at first).

But then I get to the thumbs and it "draws" the thumbs. So I click on one, and it "redraws" the screen so I can see one image. Then I click on that image and it "redraws" the thumbs again. I say "redraws" because the amount of time it takes to do the drawing is what gets to be annoying after just a few clicks. I mean, sure, it looks cool the first few times, but after the coolness wears off, then it's just annoyingly slow.

But really, I can live with the fancy redraw ... it seems like lots of people like that sort of thing. What really became annoying, however, was the 2nd page!

When you click a thumb on the second page, it draws the one image. But then clicking on that image (expecting to go back to the thumbs) it sends you back to the thumbs on the FIRST page rather than the thumbs you just looked at on page two. So now you have to re-navigate forward to page 2 just so you can keep looking at images on page 2.

Pages 3, 4 and so on just get worse because each time you view an image you have to start all over from the beginning just to get back to where you were.

Perhaps I am using it wrong? If so, the user interface might need a little help to make the right way to use it more obvious.

The photography, of course, is absolutely top notch. My only complaint is with the user interface. :-)

Hopefully you don't mind some constructive criticism.

The information balloon covers most of the thumb and much of the adjacent thumb as you move the mouse around. Overall, the navigation doesn't make much sense. As dwterry said, you are always dumped back to the first screen of thumbs, no matter how many screens you navigate into. Frustrating. Not good at all. Also, the gallery slider bar at bottom doubling as an image number and clicker, which moves when hovering over the arrow which also doubles as a gallery selector is baffling. One navigation element per function, or else people get lost and give up.

I would get rid of the music. Music on websites irritate most people, and they scramble to find a way to shut it off as soon as they hear it, setting up their outlook for the remainder of their visit. I guarantee nobody's going to your site to listen to music tracks, so get rid of the multi-track selector, or better yet, all the music.

Because of the serious navigation problems, I would consider hiring a pro to help you out with your site. It can still look this way if you want, but you really need professional help with intuitive navigation in my opinion. Currently the site doesn't help showcase your photography (which, on a different topic completely, is stunning!).

i'm thinking he did have it professionally done.

but i would echo the commenst about navigation issues.

i like the look, and it's fast. i might have the image viewer a bit larger though.

Very slick and pretty, but the mystery navigation sucks. People, especially art directors with little time, will just close your site instead of trying too much to figure it out.

Keep the art directors happy, make some concessions to functionality within your design.

Think of it this way, you don't build a house with no windows and then hide all the light switches.

ed- also, when you switch back to thumbnail view, it should stay at the spot of the image you just viewed instead of going back to the beginning.

ditto! And really if you got only rid of the "bubble" pop up it would make such a difference. I don't understand if there's a purpose for them?

Awesome images of course, as everyone else says!!!

I just went straight to the slideshow and the pictures were great! I vote for getting rid of the music. I didn't try picking out thumbs, but if I had, I guess it would be frustrating to get kicked to the beginning every time.
