Pleased with 6th, of course, and slightly ... disappointed also. There've been recent challenges where 6.9 something would have got me a ribbon. Still, looking at quality of the winners one can't complain. Congrats to all.
Anyhow, selection was tricky, so here are three out-takes. Any opinions more than welcome.

Long Shadow has to be my favorite. Nice shot!

I like the one you entered the most. It stands out as slightly different from the normal bug shot and works better than the other outtakes you posted, at least for me.
I still think I should have entered this instead of the one that I did.

Oh I agree Gordon - but i think the 'slightly different' would have hurt you: a very close macro was always going to win, eh?

I feel your pain! :) While I figured a ribbon was probably not likely (especially since I know one of the ribbon winners, and new he had over a 7), I was really expecting a top 10. And, like you, I can't complain - all nice comments and by far my highest score to date. But 9:01 (Pacific time, end of voting) I refreshed the home page hoping to see my pic - nope. OK, a little disappointing, but nothing bad. Then looked at the first 10 pics in the results - huh??? Where'd it go??? It was a bit disapointing to find myself all the way down at 15th. Oh well, at least it was a great crop of pics, so again, no complaints.
Edit: Oh, and I liked your submitted one the best as well. It was one of my top 3 or 4 picks for the challenge. Nice job. :)

Tough call. I like the colors and tonal range of your entry better, but the composition and focus stand out on this one. Yours was another of my top 4. |

That darned Jacko!
I was sure I was onto a blue until he came along with his unfeasably high score...
Incredible photo though... I think I knew all along it was going to win. :-) |
