Hey Shez

Thanks for doing this!

Just a question regarding size of the files, for the textures we create to be usefull to others the file will need to be a reasonable size I presume.

Should we upload and link to our workshop folder so they are not freely available to anyone and keep them reasonably DPC available?

Maybe there is another way that I'm not aware of.

I will be doing mine in the larger size, but adding my signiture.
For any that are overlays, I will have a folder in my portfolio and will send any overlays to any of those interested to use them, with my permission. I hope that amswers your question, otherwise does anyone else have any ideas reguarding this .

Oh layering for sure!!! It adds so much to an image and is rarely allowed in a challenge, unless it's EXPERT, so I can't wait. WOO HOO

forgive my ignorance, but what are overlays? If this is a side challenge for advanced folks - then I mis-read. Perhaps I belong on the lurking list to watch and learn.

Do you don't have to use overlays, but just do TEXTURES, re the things one see around us everyday with textures. Some Textures can also be used as overlays, in "Expert" editing, and one can also learn about these as well.

I am doing TEXTURES myself, with the added BONUS of learning about overlays at the same time.....

Can anyone add to this please, to explain Overlays better.

I'm interested, but probably can't keep the 30 day pace.

I regards to couple of the questions that have been posted here

For a basic newbie tutorial on overlays look near the bottom of the first page in this thread the thread also has some very cool pictures to get you inspired!

If you are looking for textures to use as overlays look here please also make sure you post in the thread if you have some to share ;)

What the heck - I've been doing a photo a day side challenge for two months now - why not go for a third!! I get soooo much more from these side challenges than I actually do from the regular challenges. Let the fun continue........

Add me to the list please!!

I notices the BW challenge semed to have 2 groups. Would it be worthwhile doing here? It's a very big group while there are some that always drop out it would still be pretty big.

Thoughts?

If folks created a folder for this side challenge it would be easy for anyone to go to a participant's portfolio and have a peek & comment - then move on to the next participant as per the list. I like doing it that way. Too many times photos are included in quotes...then I have to scroll...then I get distracted...etc, etc, etc...

I was thinking of something similar to this. It truly is difficult to view/comment on a big side challenge. I wonder if there are enough to split into the "texture" group and "overlay" group.

For example, I am planning on shooting things with a lot of texture -- photos you can feel, for lack of a better definition, and personally am just not excited about overlays of texture on shots. And I am sure there are several in the exact opposite boat of me. If not, keeping it one is fine as well.

I am with you on this one. I love textures, am not very interested in overlays beyond a little experimentation. I want photos I can "feel"

I vote for two groups, these are totally different type of photography to me.

TOTALLY agree about the two groups...... Dive me a little time and later today I will work it out, so everyone could add there name to the list they prefer.....
