Oh, man. I wish I could have had some of these - they would have been perfect for the Rainbow Challenge:-)

Rainbow Roses All the Rage

The company:
Happy Roses

Of course the price about $100 dollars U.S. money would be a hefty price to pay.

I don't suppose anybody here has tried doing something exactly like this with dyes and flowers?

I don't know, I think this part of their business plan may attract unwanted attention from the DEA:

"The firm sells only multi-coloured roses and chrysanthemums but is also looking to do pot plants."

Ahhhh... They ain't exactly "real"; while they are real flowers, they are actually dyed in the rainbow colors, so that seems fairly artificial to me...

Cool flowers though :-)

Well you know Star Trek has a thing with crossing timelines:-):-)

But I do wonder how they get each petal a different color.

Cool... when are they coming to America?

According to their text the dyes are introduced at the growing stage, they dont actually paint/dye the flowers. Hmmmmm.

Quote
The dyes are produced from natural plant extracts and are absorbed by the flowers as they grow.

Aspecial process then controls how much colour reaches each petal ΓΆ€“ with spectacular results.

Different.

They look like something you would give a girl when you were in Jr. High School.

Not very classy.

Except for the person who looked at my multicolored subject that isn't a literal rainbow after a storm and commented "Rainbow?"

Probably good we did not learn about this earlier, otherwise the rainbow challenge would have consisted of 120 rainbow rose photos.

Real, by the hand of man. I think they look good, although only for novelty purposes (my opinion only). The roses and chrysanthemums seem to work best. Really like the individual rose petals being different colors. The orchids, gerberas and hydrangeas come up well. The delphiniums, liliums and others don't work as well. The calla lily is interesting. Now I know 'how' some of the images I've seen here 'got' their unique coloring. Thanks for posting about these.

The photos on their website are good enough:

Drops of food coloring in a vase with a flower/flowers will give a nice effect (usually dappled). Works best with white/pale colored flowers. Sometimes glycerine is added as well.

I think Jason who posted earlier agrees with you. I agree also. It seems better suited for kids or if you're gay. :P

They'd be perfect for a clown in his boutonniere.

So now florist are getting into post processing their products too? lol Well I guess since it happens during the growing stage it couldn't be called "post" processing.

I get an almost instant headache when I'm around roses so I am more partial to the other flowers...I should see if they have gerber dasies for my wife...those would look cool that way.
