Hi everyone! Here's my dilemma. I am looking for an ultracompact for travel and for fun. And unfortunately I'm to the point where I think it just doesn't exist! These manufacturers all claim to have the best... and they are just wrong... in my opinion.
I'm just a casual photographer.. but I LOVE to take and share pictures. Generally I use my camera in auto mode, or one of the preset options. My photos are generally indoor (family, friends, parties) or outdoors in Michigan (summer beach and flowers; winter snowmobiling) I've always had Kodak because I love the Schneider lense. My first priority is a CLEAR SHARP image. I currently have a Z730 which takes great shots. But I wanted something smaller...(it's quite bulky in my coat snowmobiling! and doesn't fit in a small purse).
So far I've tried:
Kodak V1253. Great design, love the buttons, feel of camera, but performance-wise its an awful camera. Lag time between shots is probably 5-6 seconds. Photos are blurry, and certainly not sharp, especially in indoor shots.
Canon SD1000 Probably the best so far. Quick. But photos tend to be soft, not sharp on indoor photos. My 5MP Kodak (notes above) takes sharper, clearer images.
Nikon Coolpix S50 The camera takes forever to focus. Photos are not clear in indoor setting. Very grainy.
I was thinking of trying Sony with the Carl Zeis lense.
This is turning into a daunting task! Am I asking for too much? I don't need a long zoom. All I want is a CLEAR SHARP image, and normal lag time? There are lots of ultracompact cameras out there... And reviews can be outstanding! I'm at a loss. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thank you! Karen
ps.. Your challenge photos are all OUTSTANDING! :)
