Hi all
A friend of mine linked me to this great site and I have now become a member. I am considering posting images but I was concerned by the Terms of Use. It states:
"You agree to permit DPChallenge.com to amend this Agreement in its sole discretion at any time, and you agree to abide by and be fully bound by such amended terms. The amended terms shall automatically be effective after they are posted on the Website, and your continued use of the Website on or after such effective time constitutes your acceptance of the amended terms."
This makes me a bit nervous. After all, you hear so much about the abuse of photographers rights. What this clause means is that DPC could at any time say "right, we now have 2000000 images and we are going to change our terms so that we own the copyright" and theres nothing that us members could do about it.
Does this worry anyone else?

What that language means, in a nutshell, is that someone can't claim that they are bound only by the Terms of Use that were in force when they joined. In other words, it makes it possible for us to update them, which becomes necessary from time to time.
DPC would cease to exist almost immediately if we in any way infringed upon the rights of our contributors. We're acutely aware of this, and we work diligently to make sure our members' rights are protected to the extent that it is possible to do so (no image posted on the 'net is immune from theft).

Hi Z0ned,
Welcome to DPC!
A photographer's copyright can be sold, licensed, or given away, but all of those things require the permission of the photographer in question or else it's considered copyright infringement.
I encourage you to hang around a bit more and make your own judgment; however, I have zero fear that DPC as a site would do anything to infringe the copyright of any photographer.

Good, that means no new punishment. I think I might go and find a stone to hide under until the flames die down...oh, Art hasn't started the village burning yet. But we have the MIB on one side and the Art on the other!! |

Ooops. Sorry. I have a rare form of Tourette's Syndrome. Only happens when I read the forums here though.
Welcome, Newcomer! ...hey, where'd he go?? |

Thanks for the many prompt responses. I will certainly be hanging around a while to get a feel for the place. You all obviously feel this is a "safe" place.
Thanks
