Okay, all you DPC fuss-pots -- how do you define sports?
Physical activity required?

Capture the action of any sport.
Trying to keep it simple....
Sports: competitive physical activity

I'm not a fan of golf, but if I were a golf ball, I would say the driver swing would be considered rather physical.

Why not? It is widely recognized as a sport. As is fishing, hiking, climbing, and other outdoor activities. |

Its pretty open I would think. I mean heck, even dancing or playing chess is considered sport.

I second, third and fourth this opinion. Top players report losing over 1kg of weight during a match through tension. There is some physical activity in chess, but the mental activity certainly places it inside a definition of sport. |

Takraw is my favorite sport to watch. I first saw it when in Thailand in 1994. It's amazing.
To oversimplify it's basically volleyball played with your feet.
Pictures don't do justice to the sheer physical feats these players do.
Takraw 1
Takraw 2
Takraw 3

doh doh doh
I worked until about 5am then stayed up til sunrise and went shooting. I got the shot I wanted, came home, photoshopped it, uploaded it and THEN realized the challenge was to shoot the "action" of a sport.
I'm too tired to fix it and I'm sad because I really like the shot lol.
So just out of curiosity how harsh are people going to be if there isn't any (ahem) action in my sports shot? (It's very definitely related to sports)

I wish this challenge would have been this summer. I worked at a sports camp and one of the things I did was take pictures for the website.
I picked some of my favorite "action" shots. No post processing at all on these though, sense I really didn't have a reason to. The lighting is pretty bad on some of them, but in the outdoors you have to work with what you have. ;)

Sense it says "action" in the description, I don't think I'd vote a studio shot of sports gear very well. But then again, I'm on a dial up. Voting seems too time consuming sometimes. Waiting a couple of minutes for each image to load gets frustrating, and makes it hard to vote on 20% of the shots. Thats my own problem though.
