Just wondering if anyone makes their own Xmas Cards and what software or web site you use.

Thanks

Hey there,

My wife just had some printed for her clients (she's a massage therapist). We went to Vistaprint.co.uk and she did her own message on the inside and also her own picture. They look rather nice on the screen yet but they haven't arrived yet. Price wasn't too bad either from what i remember.

I can recommend Vistaprints stuff- ive just ordered some of my own business cards from there after seeing my wife's arrive.

As for software: VP supply templates you can download in PSD format so the dimensions etc are already there for you to play with. If there isnt one for cards you can just create them on the site and pick your font etc, or upload your own.

I've used //www.photobox.co.uk for the past couple of years. Not much help to you though as they only cover Europe. Basically they let you upload your shot, select the size of card, and enter whatever text you want printed on the inside.

Pretty cool Gordon, I like the series of shots across the top!

We make our own, using templates on Snapfish or MPix. I take a family portrait, or else just the kids in front of the tree (we put it up the day after Thanksgiving so there's plenty of time to get picture cards made).

I use PhotoShop for layout & Marathon Press for printing (or VistaPrint for the cheapies).

This is my family's card from last year...

We've been making "Gator" cards for about 12 years now. But we do it the old fashoned way. Take the picture, buy blank cards, Print the greetings, glue the picture.

I don't have mine online right now - I'm at work, but one year I took a picture of colored thumbtacks on top of a light box in the shape of a Star of David (Chanukah) and printed them up at the photo store I then worked at. All sorts of fun.

I get even more 'old fashioned'. I but a ream of 80lb Cover Stock (Neenan, Classic Crest, Avalanche White,(or whatever white I like that year) Super Smooth) and a box of envelopes to match (Neenan, Classic Crest, Avalanche white, A2), Set up the card in Photoshop or your favorite editing program. Print and cut paper in half. Then I run each card through the printer again for the inside greeting along with a personal message on most.

Here are a few examples:
......

My biggest problem is getting anyone OFF my Xmas card list. People call and say "I haven't gotten mine yet..."
:-))

I suppose it would also work to just buy a package of printing paper (not the kind with trademarks on the back) and proceed as above.

Good envelopes are easy to find at any fairly good paper store (perhaps not the Big Box stores like Office Max)

My wife usually makes our cards (Christmas and otherwise), and they often include a family photo on the inside.

I do them every year. Usually using a combination of Photoshop and Quark XPress and then print on my own printer using very nice paper.
