Has anyone tried: //www.picturestock.com/presspass.shtml ? Any luck?

What about other press pass organizations? Any that you found are fraud-type or great-type?

Thanks

My boyfriend told me to get one of these...
I didn't believe him...
Though I would love to hear that they do work!

This is the best one I've seen - wondering about them tho...At least Photostock will send a fax on your behalf if you pay them the $10 bucks admin fee. So you CAN get company letterhead, etc - they will actually talk to the people you're trying to get the pass from. (so they say)

Has anyone ever heard anything good or bad about Photostock? Mavrik, have you tried them yet?

I think the key is that a press pass doesn't actually get you into anywhere interesting. You have to obtain press credentials from the event usually - where they have pre-approved you to get in.

so some places only let in particular newspapers or photo-journalists that they already know. I don't know how much of a reputation PictureStock actually has in terms of getting you credentials (this is all mentioned on the linked page - but they obviously hype their reputation - I wonder what the rest of the world thinks of them ?)

some feedback

some more

quick google search doesn't turn up much favourable commentry, other than from their own materials. I have no direct experience of them, however.

Just my honest opinion... I would think you would have just as much luck making up your own fantasy news organization, and printing it on your home printer. If I showed up at an event with one of these things from PictureStock, I have a feeling that I'd be escorted to the door by a couple burly security dudes...

No, Kevin, I didn't try them. After posting these questions - I found basically the same type info Gordon posted and decided against it. I had better luck with my press passes two times - getting into the track at Saratoga I just called and asked about it - they said if I was doing freelance stuff, I could get upclose and personal. And I did a shoot for a band and just asked them before the show if I could get closer to shoot and they said sure. :) So I haven't tried to get into anything major (Travers would have been harder) but....
