I order from amazon all the time and I always see huge differences in the prices of things. I always go with the seller with the best feedback of course. As to why big companies want so much and the regular guy asks so little is beyond me. But at least there are quite a few others who are selling it so cheap. I've never had to buy software so I'm not sure what to say.

I did notice that some of the DSLR's that are sold on there are very cheap because they sell them without batteries and such. It doesnt say that in the details though. I had to ask them. If it would make you feel better just email them and ask. Maybe they can give you some insight.

Sometime Amazon partners with other retailers and offers their products for sale. A good example is Target, ToysRUs, Adorama, and Calumet. They also partner withe other smaller retailers that no one has ever heard of, like SuppliesNet. You pay Amazon and then the item is shipped from other retailer, and any disputes have to be resolved by them. There has been some trouble with some stinky smaller retailers not providing good customer service, but Amazon is pretty good about weeding them out.

I highly recommend purchasing from Amazon directly or a retailer whose name you recognize.

Amazon does guarantee the products sold through most other merchants, but if you had trouble it's a few more steps and a lot more waiting time (you have to wait something like 30 days before you can even file a claim under the guarantee) to resolve the dispute.

If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Since it's CS2, my guess would be that they are trying to get rid of old inventory. But the one trying to sell it for $907 isn't.

I noticed Calumet has over 1000 ratings where as the other seller has only 16 reviews. I've done business with Calumet, never heard of the others. I totally agree with L2, stick with reputable names. $205.00 for a full version of Photoshop seems way to good to be true unless your getting it from a retailer that sells student versions of the software like Campus Tech or Academic Superstore.

^ I was going to say the same -- the $205 copy is either an academic copy or an OEM copy (packaged with some other product). Both will be full working copies, with the only caveats that you're not allowed to produce commercial or retail work with the academic copy, and you can't upgrade the OEM copy (at least that's how it is with M$ products).

Just to clarify, there is no OEM version of PS CS2. It doesn't exist. There is an academic version, and if that is what this is it should say so. There is also an upgrade version, but that should be priced well below the $205 level.
If it is a new, packaged, full (not academic or upgrade) version then $205 is a good price. If you wanted to upgrade to latest version, you'd be looking at the $205 + $169 upgrade cost which brings you to $374. Not bad at all.
This is the path I took originally; I bought version 4.0 on ebay for about $100 and upgraded to the (at the time current) 7.0 for $149.

I know it's the old version, and I had found the 9.0 version, but now can't find the link for it.

Anyhow, Is the old version really that bad?

I found this
//www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000NDIBYG/ref=pd_bbs_sr_olp_2/102-0543766-4932142?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1190993217&sr=1-2

but it's a dvd-rom. What's the difference?
