With Canon and Reebok on them.

The NPPA is a bit up in arms about it. //www.nppa.org/news_and_events/news/2007/07/nfl01.html

I'm torn between a little outrage at the mis-use by the NFL of the people who keep them in the papers, and wondering if the NPPA is mad because they don't.

Wonder what would happen if the NPPA called for an NFL boycott?

What about the smart shooters that shoot Nikon? I would not be caught dead in a vest with that nasty Canon name on it.

I'd just get a bumper sticker with the name of my paper on it to put over the logos or just wear the vest inside out.

Maybe Canon should do something with the lenses.... Maybe paint them white or something so people can see it's a Canon :-)

How ironic and probably bad for Canon, if you see numerous shooters wearing a Canon vest while shooting Nikon.

How about wearing a red jump suit too (with the vest turned inside out).

Rent Idiocracy.

The clothing in that movie is the true future of the world.

You would be surprised at how FEW nikon shooters I have encountered at NFL games. I don't really know the reason why though. I read somewhere in the last year or 18 months that Canon cut some sort of deal with the associated press though. That could have something to do with it. I also don't really understand the value of plastering an advertisement on a photographer. The people who will see that the most are people in the stadium at the games, but i guess that's a rather large and captive audience.

As one who gets press/media credentialed, I can say that I see mostly Canon hardware when on-location.

I'm sure there are plenty of photographers out there who would gladly fill in for those guys, even if they had to wear three-piece suits on the sidelines. :-)

At motorcycle races and Le Mans I see more Nikon shooters. :)

So, AlanFreed, I'll have to get a new shot of you on the sidelines in your Canon Vest with your NIKON to replace this shot

Man, i'd love to shoot from the sidelines at an Eagles game.

So Alan, will you be wearing Canon or Reebok?????

DrNick,

Canon gave out over 500 "FREE" Cameras and glass to photogs who were seen with anything but. One of my fellow journalist that was covering the Games was approached by a Canon rep and asked if he'd be willing to "Try out Canon gear?" He took the offer was led to a van and had to give up his gear in exchange for new Canon gear. He's since gone back to Nikon But how cool would that be. Anyway it's something Canon does at big venues. They convert non Canon users over to push that their product had -X- amount of Canon shooters. As you can see in the picture it has an impressive effect. I just wonder how many of those shooters showed up with some old beat up D2x only to be handed a nice new EOS Mark II?

Ah, I missed this thread the first time around since I was on vacation when it was first posted...

Actually, it's not a matter of a Canon or Reebok logo. The fancy vests, in a festive, puke orange-ish color, have a fairly big Canon logo on one side of the front, and there's a very small Reebok logo at the top of the back. So for now there are those two logos on them, along with a logo that makes it look like all of the sideline photographers are "NFL Photographers."

I suppose that eventually more and more logos could be added to the things, and we may all look like race cars with ads all over us.

A lot of the photographers have been commenting on them, but no one really seems that bent out of shape about them. I really don't give much of a hoot that I'm wearing a Canon logo while shooting with a Nikon. Woop-de-doo, personally.

In a way, it's kind of a good thing because they've implemented this across the board in all of the stadiums, so things are now uniform no matter which venue you're visiting. It used to be that each stadium had its own various crap you had to wear to the games -- leg bands, arm bands, vests, blah blah blah. So at least it should be the same now no matter what stadium you're in.

My brother works security at those games, he gets to stand on the field the whole time (usually guarding the cheerleaders)
