well it's probably not much to the pro types but i just ordered this lens and i cant wait to get it! I love doing portraits and have heard great things about this lens. Anybody have any tips of other things this lens is good for?
This will be my first lens purchase, i have been suffering with just the kit lens for over 2 yrs now. Cant wait!!

Great lens. What's it good for? Learning how to compose your shots, choosing appropriate aperture, etc. Useful in all sorts of scenarios that (obviously) don't require a telephoto. Have fun!

Best value lens in the world - you'll have a blast with it. There are days I stick it on the camera and just head out and have a 50mm day. Enjoy!!

Enjoy! My nikon 50 1.8 is by far my favorite lens. Put it on your camera and spend a day, a week, or even a month shooting only with it. You'll be glad you did!

Get yourself a set of extension tubes to use with it and you can do some great macro work with it.

Yep, I've already seen that with my Nikon equivalent. And it's so SMALL!

Small? Ha! Not quite... these guys are small!

But ya... fast 50's are sweet. My 1.4 is definitely my favorite lens, and 50 1.8's are so cheap that there really isn't any excuse to NOT have one in your bag.
