Regarding eMusic and the blues. I listen to the two top blues podcasts, Raven and the Blues and the Roadhouse. I would frequently go look on eMusic for the tracks and albums I heard there and almost ALWAYS found them. They are excellent when it comes to the depth of their blues catalog.
Caveat: I did end up canceling my eMusic subscription though. I just can't rely on myself to purchase the minimum every month. I run hot and cold. For me iTunes is the best option and that's where I buy. |

Right - I'm thinking, though, for a one-time bulk purchase this might be a good option. I'm going to have to look at it in more depth when I get home.

And as of today, it looks like Amazon has finally joined the music party. All DRM free MP3s. |

I used walmart for a while. The problem is all the DRM. Amazon might be a great alternative.
emusic is fun because you can download some tunes that are not "radio ready". Today's "i-tunes music" is missing that individualistic style. I worked in the field for a while, and all songs had to be 3:30 with the right hook mixed a certain way. It is great to hear bands that are not tied to that sort of churn it out thinking...yet. |

No kidding! I mean, it obviously sucks so bad no one's buying it! It's certainly not the case that pop stars are getting rich off their cookie cutter stuff, as opposed to all the feelthy reech indy folks. ;)
Anyway, according to Billy Joel, it was 3:05.

Most people are content with cookie cutter music and just going with the flow. Everybody I know only wants to listen to what other people listen to. |

it is so much cooler to listen to music that no one has ever heard of like one of my favorite bands: between the trees. no ones ever heard of them, but they are really good. its definitely way cooler to go with the stuff that no one has ever listened to

If you like Jazz you should check out Christian Scott (I call it ghetto emo jazz), or if you like the pop-rock-punk-emo stuff check out Lovedrug off emusic. |

Sounds like your indie creds are well-burnished. :) |
