I would like to somewhat easily sync my email from my main PC to my laptop, then the other way around after I have been out of town and using my laptop for a few days or so.
I have copied the .pst file back and forth but think it hosed some things up a few times and I may have lost some things...
any ideas

How about a traveling disk drive? Point your PST to it and just move the drive back and forth?
Are you missing items other than mail in your personal folders? (What you are doing should work!) Damn MS anyway! |

I bought an Ipaq Pocket PC just for that. I have 3 machines snyc'd with that using the ActiveSync software.

I think that's what the 'briefcase' programs are for in windows and Outlook. Never tried 'em though.
IMAP is perfect for this, but outlook doesn't support it. |

Outlook absolutely supports IMAP. It's the third choice in the "type" of server behind Exchange and POP.

Internet Mail Access Protocol (IMAP) allows a client to access messages in private and public folders on a server. Outlook users can access e-mail in their Microsoft Exchange Server mailbox or ISP server, if supported, without downloading entire items, including any attachments. Outlook can retrieve specific messages or portions of a message, such as an attachment. IMAP does not send e-mail; this functionality is handled by Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP).

Cool - then as long as the person's server supports it as well, he's sorted. But it is probably doubtful that it does - certainly worth checking though.
Makes me wonder why we got to suffer getting migrated to exchange server from an IMAP solution at work, but I guess MS sell their stuff well.
