There were 5 DQ's for Impressionism II, none of them showing on the last page of results...Self-DQ's then, yes? Is so, that's the most I remember seeing for one challenge.

Anybody recall a challenge with more?

Nope, don't recall that many ever. I wish I could have made it 6!

I cant, but I'd be grateful for others views on the whole Self DQ issue (for the moment I think it is prudent that I hold my own counsel on the matter)

One "oops" per 25 challenges is fair IMO. I remember using it once when my perception of the challenge was SO obviously wrong I was getting hammered bigtime. :D

Why aren't self-DQ's shown on the last page? I think it would be helpful to see them there.

Think of a self-DQ as an unsubmission.

I prefer to think of it as running away from the swimming pool crying "Mommy! Mommy! The water's too cold!"

I prefer to think of it as a chessmaster laying down his king and saying, "you have bested me this time. I will not prolong the inevitable." ;)

Or maybe just "WHAT was I thinking?" :-)

I was thinking, "Whoops, that is the wrong challenge. I put that up in that challenge to compare it to the one I wanted to enter on another computer, and forgot to unsubmit it before the challenge started."

The other one was a whim. If I were a drinker, I would claim to have submitted while under the influence. :) Probably should have left it in, though. I look at it now, and kinda like it.

I don't see the point of self DQ really. You thought it was good enough to enter, what changed ?

Apparently the "thought it was good enough" part.

You are my new hero...My view had been more if you dont let me score the winning goal I am taking my ball home....

Oddly enough, that is just it. Several of our requests are from people who entered it in the wrong challenge by mistake, so there was no change.

That I can somewhat understand.

What karmat isn't telling you is they thought they had entered the "photographic impressionism challenge" instead of the one we had. ;P

I did think about saying something along those lines...

I'm talking about requests overall, not just this challenge. :)

I've been out of the loop the past week or two and honestly couldn't tell you the reasons for this challenge.

My one and only self-DQ happened because the entry was truly awful. I hated it and knew everyone else would too, even before submitting it. The next morning, I wondered why I felt like I had to enter even though it was utter crap? I took a step back and a deep breath and decided that I really needed to stop feeling compelled to submit to every single challenge. It wasn't an easy thing to do, really. I don't shy away from poor scores - this was more than that.

Man! you enter the shot, live with the shot, self DQ is softness in the highest order. I personally do not agree with it myself. I have had a few sub 5 images even around 4.0 but so what. Surely it is not about the score alone... my 2p worth.
