There were 5 DQ's for Impressionism II, none of them showing on the last page of results...Self-DQ's then, yes? Is so, that's the most I remember seeing for one challenge.
Anybody recall a challenge with more? |

Nope, don't recall that many ever. I wish I could have made it 6! |

I cant, but I'd be grateful for others views on the whole Self DQ issue (for the moment I think it is prudent that I hold my own counsel on the matter) |

One "oops" per 25 challenges is fair IMO. I remember using it once when my perception of the challenge was SO obviously wrong I was getting hammered bigtime. :D |

Why aren't self-DQ's shown on the last page? I think it would be helpful to see them there.

Think of a self-DQ as an unsubmission.

I prefer to think of it as running away from the swimming pool crying "Mommy! Mommy! The water's too cold!" |

I prefer to think of it as a chessmaster laying down his king and saying, "you have bested me this time. I will not prolong the inevitable." ;)

Or maybe just "WHAT was I thinking?" :-) |

I was thinking, "Whoops, that is the wrong challenge. I put that up in that challenge to compare it to the one I wanted to enter on another computer, and forgot to unsubmit it before the challenge started."
The other one was a whim. If I were a drinker, I would claim to have submitted while under the influence. :) Probably should have left it in, though. I look at it now, and kinda like it. |

I don't see the point of self DQ really. You thought it was good enough to enter, what changed ?

Apparently the "thought it was good enough" part. |

Oddly enough, that is just it. Several of our requests are from people who entered it in the wrong challenge by mistake, so there was no change. |

That I can somewhat understand.

What karmat isn't telling you is they thought they had entered the "photographic impressionism challenge" instead of the one we had. ;P

I did think about saying something along those lines...

I'm talking about requests overall, not just this challenge. :)
I've been out of the loop the past week or two and honestly couldn't tell you the reasons for this challenge. |

My one and only self-DQ happened because the entry was truly awful. I hated it and knew everyone else would too, even before submitting it. The next morning, I wondered why I felt like I had to enter even though it was utter crap? I took a step back and a deep breath and decided that I really needed to stop feeling compelled to submit to every single challenge. It wasn't an easy thing to do, really. I don't shy away from poor scores - this was more than that.

Man! you enter the shot, live with the shot, self DQ is softness in the highest order. I personally do not agree with it myself. I have had a few sub 5 images even around 4.0 but so what. Surely it is not about the score alone... my 2p worth. |
