Is this acceptable? I have a different shot from the same shoot I entered into a challege earlier this month that I'm considering entering into the freestudy, but it's going to be obvious that it's mine since it looks so much like the one I entered in the other challenge. After I entered the other challenge I kind of wished that I had entered a slightly different shot and done the editing a little different, and the Freestudy would be the chance to do that. Is that OK? Will I get voted down because people recognize it from another challenge? |

It's OK to do this. Will you get voted down? Hard to say, I imagine some voters might give you lower scores because they've seen the "same" image in another challenge, but I don't think that overall it affects final scores all that much. It's really up to you. |

technically it is acceptable, but if the outtake is really close to the previously entered shot, it is kinda lame, in my personal opinion...

Not much, if any, lamer than people like me, who return to the same damned skiff over and over again "because it's there"... :-)

Or it might give you two ribbons in a row as it did recently ;) |

i guess it would depend on, as I said, how close the shots are. I guess for you the "damned skiff" is like the Sun for sunset shooters... you can shoot sunsets over and over again, and they all would be different. Then again, shooting sunsets is a little bit lame :)

Hey, you said it, Robert, not me. :)
I have a second star trail shot that basically looks the same as my Sacred entry. I'm sure it would do well in the free study. In fact, I'm curious whether it'd do better because I think some of the low votes were probably DNMC (which I don't object to, actually - it was a bit of a stretch).
But I know it's a good shot, and I've gotten feedback from DPC that they liked it, so I'm not going to enter a similar one.
Instead, I'm going to steal Robert's skiff, draw two birds on it, and enter that. ;)
