I was wondering if anyone would get the turquoise colour that spaceweather.com mentioned... Congrats on getting it!

Well the eclipse started with some wonderful small clouds around the moon giving a beautiful glistening effect, then as it neared the full eclipse a heavy cloud slowly engulfed the whole thing grrrrr

Only to pass by a few minutes later showing the moon with just the tip still bathed in sunlight.

I got a couple of shots that are ok. will return and post.

I can't believe i woke up late and missed this. I knew there was a reason my alarm was going off 10 min. earlier than usual. I completely forgot about it.

Here we are, the best I could, I like it being my first one, and being 1/2 asleep

Great shot Lisa (and David, etc)! Incredible timing there! I took some at 3:30 when it was fully eclipsed then had to leave for work. I wish I had gotten some shots with the white of the Moom starting to peak through. I'll see what I got later at home and post here.

Nice shots! :)

Well, thought I would process at least one before heading to bed for couple of hours.

This is total of 2652 seconds - used black-out cloth to cover lens instead of cardboard tube cap, was quicker to get off/on.

Vertically cropped.

Edit: total of 2652 seconds, but forgot to say - it's 2 images composited. One was 1098 seconds, the other 1554 seconds. :)

I was spinning on my head when I shot mine. You must have just been standing still.

Seems nice and clear in our neck of the woods, but I can't imagine staying up that late or getting up that early. I shot this a couple years ago, and I figure that once you've shot one eclipse, you've pretty much shot 'em all :)

Hey, how come when you were shooting it, it went in a horseshoe? Mine only went in a straight line...

nice clear night here in Sydney
missed the half eclipse phase due to the need for feed

man that was hard with only a 200mm lens and a crap tripod, these are cropped lots :)
the first was hand held but had to bring out the tripod as the light levels dropped then had problems getting the camera to focus with the low contrast

I fell asleep on the couch until almost 3am and it was supposed to start around 2am here. When I got up I couldn't find the moon and I was half asleep, so I gave up and went to bed.

=(

I was very successful last night. Unfortunately, I can't show it because of impending challenge possibilities!!

No eclipse for JP, come back one year.

I did the same thing you said you were going to do lastnight however I also had a camera set up with 1000mm I got a bunch of nice shots however I wont go so far to say I was successful. The wind was messing with me a little bit causing some shake. I am going to compose them later tonight then i will know how well I did. First I have to get my challenge entry for tonights rollover edited and uploaded.

I'm in Costa Rica, got up at 3.30 am to find the sky was completely overcast...I did however manage to get some nice shots with my Rebel XTi and a 75-300mm lens....

Looking forward for the Feb eclipse....down here it's gonna be dry season.

I wont be doing any of these in the winter months. lol I was out for over 4 hours lastnight and only seen 50% of the show. Not sure I would want to do that when it is freezing.

Here is my 4 hour effort. Enjoy.

Finished downloading the rest of the images after catching a few hours sleep, took the original image that I did and composited 2 more images with it, for total of 4 images.

Started imaging at 4:38 (not including my test images before that) and brought everything in from outside at 6:10.

Enjoy.

This is probably the best one I got last night. Unfortunately, it's not very sharp.

Here's my try. I kinda blew it on the red one. For some stupid reason I used my 2x converter and had to manual focus. I really don't know what I was thinking. It was also kinda windy. I tried mirror lock-up and everything and I couldn't get the red moon any better. I'm beginning to think that a 2.5 sec exposure was maybe to long and that's motion blurr and not a focus issue.

This is awesome! But I can't beleive with an Expert Editing Free Study that you didn't save this image to enter there....

Maybe this eclipse is why the Free Study went Expert Editing this month...

Congratulations on an awesome image!
