I have decided to try and do some sales from my smugmug website, so I upgraded from power to pro. But I really want to remove all the smugmug branding, and have a nice custom site.

I did the basics already, just from the FAQ, but before I go further, I'd love to see what you all have done. So if you have a custom smugmug site, post a link here, and I'll visit later tonght!

Also, feel free to post any tips beyond what I can find in the FAQ and forums.

I guess what I'll also need is a graphic banner. I may have to have a banner design contest here, since I'm not very good at that! More about that later!

What a great idea...I have a Smugmug Pro account and worked all weekend to get the basics up. And now, I plan to start my customizing. I'd love to see what others are doing.

I may take you up on that ;) But mainly here I wanted to see what was possible, what works well for the site (from my own point of view), and do an initial design before implementing anything.

Do they all take that long to load normally? I clicked everyone's link and none loaded before my instinct was to close the screen. I waited one out and it took almost 30 seconds to load the front page. After the front page was loaded I figured maybe it would go faster. It did, but not by much. I feel like I'm on dialup again.

Is it taking that long for everyone else?

Edit: It seems to have picked up now. They all load within a few seconds.

nope its working pretty fast for me here at my office, and at home it will probably run faster cause my internet is better/faster their. Here at work or internet speed sucks but today its loading just fine.

Most of the time smugmug is running just find for me. Sometimes they will have their problems but for me its all good I dont run in to any and if I do I just wait and they fix it right away.

I am using IE6, has anyone come across the pictures, when they are in the slideshow presentation has scattered white pixels...it looks like someone has sprinkled salt all over them? They are fine in any other mode. I spoke with Smugmug and they are working with dgrin.com to figure it out...they have come across it before. It's not evry image and some are worse than others.

I have done some customization. Not as extensive as others though. Take a look. I would be happy to send the customizations I did if requested.

You've got some really beautiful photos. Your lighting skills are very good. Especially the studio flower shots.

My Smugmug site is at: micknewton.smugmug.com

I haven't done much customizing though. If I remember correctly, I added my own header and footer images, and modified the menu bar to add links for my own search and e-mail contact functionality.

I agree and that photo of the little girl covering her face with her hands is an adorable shot, she remind me of my niece with that pose
