Here's the results of my very first photo shoot! The subject is a singer in a local rock band. I think I got very lucky to take pictures of someone who looks good from every angle! Tell me what you guys think. And yes, I know the slideshow has one pic twice in there... I'm a noob.

Hey kellian, enjoyed the pics, very well done. My question now is, is that her music playing? If so who is she, I really liked it.

You did an excellent job on focus, color, composition and exposure of her. There were some where you were not careful of the background though. And in my opinion you did too much tilting for the sake of tilting the image rather than because it added to the portrait. In some, the tilt of her and the background were different and it ditracted from her.

You also used the same poses over and over, which isn't bad, but because you had so many pictures in the slide show, I kept thinking I'd seen that picture 3 times before. Rather than have 50 images in your slide show, you should pick out about 20 of the best and use those. You have enough that are close to the same pose to be able to reduce the number.

Pretty girl and over all you did an excellent job.

Actually, she sings very hard rock and none of the three songs of hers that I have fit the photos so I used Portishead's 'Glory Box' for the music.

MikeJ, thanks for your comments, I definitely agree on some of the backgrounds although I was pleased with them in general as the whole shoot was a blur and I really had no idea what I'd captured.

As for the tilt for tilt's sake, I actually shot most of the poses with and without the tilt and in the end the tilted ones just looked more interesting for whatever reason.

I didn't do much to pose her, mostly because I don't really know how to yet. That was all her doing the posing. I set the shots up and gave her a few ideas here and there but we were both new and winging it as we went along.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm pretty pleased with it still so I'm not seeing it with a critical eye just yet.

Some of them are great and some of them aren't my style. (none are bad) but this i the real complement, there is such a large variety of shots that I think anyone can say some are great and some not my style, but i think most everyone would say that some are great! overall good job, looked like you had some fun! I do have to agree with mike on the tilt, personally a bit to much. some were cool tho! yeah so good job keep it up!

I really liked the show but I really think that there are too many pictures there. I LOVE the music and would like to know where I can get a copy of it. Maybe others if she has any. She is a pretty girl but there is just too many of same style pictures (meaning, too much of her left side) Most of the pictures show the tat which is cool and rockish but for your slode show I would only do the best of the best images and leave it at that. Other than that I loved the set up and design. The music was the right tone and fit her very well.

The music in the slideshow is Portishead's "Glory Box" from the album Dummy. Savina's band is called TransEra and their music can be heard here:

son of a ..... first thing on there is an ad for Kahuna's in st. pete - my old stompin grounds! LOL (I'm a bay area native, transplanted to TN)

wonderful images, and I especially like those where you've 'shot against the light' & the ones using the dark red fabric. i kind of agree about the multiple images, but overall a VERY nice collection for one's first session!

well done ma'am!
