I thought of a tool as anything that would aid humans in accomplishing something...
I'm an 18 year old girl, living in a tiny dorm room. I don't exactly have hammers lying around. And I didn't want to use anything typical like a pencil or fork. Big mistake on my part. |

		| Just because a whole bunch of you took classic tools, you get defensive with anyone who has a different view. Maybe because for most of you bending your minds enough to open up the potential of a challenge is hard and anyway, predictability always gets the predictable mans vote. |

Anything that regulates voltage has to have a transistor or a resistor. Any power tool, electric or battery. Has some kind of computerized equipment. I work with them every day!

Oh my lord... Isn't there any challenge that people would just enjoy and learn and not pick apart to pieces ??

This kind of nitpicking totally kills creativity and freedom of expression! I am not saying ...break the rules..., but enough is enough.

A transistor or resistor does not a computer make.

In laymens terms, a computer is a device that will perform some arbitrary set of instructions. In otherwords, you can write a program that will allow the computer to do something that was not originally built into the hardware. Most electronic devices do not have this capability.

For example, it's highly unlikely I could play a game on my electric drill. Any electronics present have been purpose built do a specific job. Whereas I can play a game, write an email, or do countless other tasks on my more general purpose computer.

I hope this clears things up.

Well, it sticks out like a sore thumb, as far as not being a tool appearently. |
