This shot got 229 and I feel that it is much better than that number. Kudos to those who did well and placed well. It is tough but I got smacked because I failed to optimize my photo to get the maximum size possible. Well, I asked for it but not 229.//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=33687

you've got a lot of excellent images and unfortunately the voters got diffent opinions, im just dissapointed when i browsed my faves pictures and saw a lot of 1s and 2s, sometimes the winning pix also got some 1s and 2s.
...everytime we submit our entry, we're hoping to rank higher..but we cant please anybody and we cant tell them that this is image is very good...when you go artsy, expects a lot of negative/positive comments, diffused it...you got out of focus comments, tilt it..they dont want it.
im not changing my style with regards to my submission...just show your character...and as of now i cant see any ribbons for my submission and never expect to get one, just got surprised that i got a higher placing in seasonal challenge.
the best awards that im getting here in dpc...the helpful comments and words of encouraging from the members.
honestly, some of my photos are overrated and some are under rated, but what can i do, its the average score that counts. im just enjoying the site and im goin to be a regular member maybe by next month, just encountered some problems, in paying thru net.
all the best and good luck to all.

I think I robbed myself by NOT submitting this to the "In The Garden" challenge. I read the fora and started getting concerned about the number of flowers in the photo...still hurts. 8-(

That is a really great shot! The curve of the worm is really nice. Colors are great too. |

What made you not submit this shot? Just curious.

For a while, a few of us were predicting (in a post) what out final score would be for a given challenge. Nobody predicted ten, though .... |

The challenge was, "Simple enough -- compose a photograph somehow related to the garden. Here's the catch... the main subject of your photograph may NOT be a flower."
In the "Current Challenge" forum, some people started talking about how they were going to vote down photos with any flowers. Because of all the flowers in my photo, I submitted one with just one incidental flower and got hammered (a little bit) for even having that one. I just wish I'd not paid attention to what they were saying and submitted the better photo. It was obvious, to me anyway, that the caterpillar was the main subject. I shot myself in the foot.

Let's talk about future now, forget about past does anyone have new cool photo? |

I was disappointed that my 'Future' shot didn't do better. I know it was because it was representing a future rather than being futuristic, but I still expected it as an outside medal shot. Oh well, with a four, two sixes, a seven, a nine and a ten I'm going for the record for most top ten finishes without a ribbon, whatever that is.

90 out of 262. I really thought this was a top 20 shot. I guess people didn't feel this was summer enough. I thought the split second right before he hits the ball, coupled with the position of all the people watching him from within the dugout, really made this a great capture. This was shot with a 70-210mm lens at the widest Fstop. This was hand held and through a chain link fence. I forget sometimes that I'm the only one who knows the difficulty of the shot, and that scores are based upon that ;-)
And what's worse, my past and my monument shots are doing about the same! Eh... there's always next challenge!

I can't complain on how my first entry placed, but I was hoping it would do a bit better. A six average, maybe.

Perhaps, my best shoot was my My nude shoot.
But, it´s just normal that I didn´t get a ribbon, because all the nude shoots was brilliant...

Nope - utterly robbed. No one has taste, creative evaluation or a sense of humour - except those complaining in this forum and those who commented on my images:

Well, I don't have any that I think should have won a ribbon yet. The ones that took the ribbon were mostly deserving to me. However, while I blundered with the topic on The Past, I got creamed! I came in second to last. I was emotionally distraught when I was out taking photos(no excuse) so I wasn't thinking clearly and could have done much better -- but it is very clear that people vote on whether or not a photo fits the challenge topic.
I don't believe my photo was that bad for The Past. I explain why I entered it below the photo.
My Past Challenge Entry
One photo that I do think placed unjustly low was my Summertime entry. I don't think another photo dipicted Summer as well. I used the measure that if aliens came down to planet earth and you had to define a season -- what would it be. I was literal. Seasons to me were not a snippet -- I thought we were to truly try to define them.

While I was hoping that this shot would score higher, on the contrary, I feel that I have been extremely lucky to have won any ribbons at all as in every challenge I have seen photos that I have liked, and thought were higher quality, than my own. I'm amazed, in fact.

I agree Martin, that's a great shot. And based on the score you got, it could've won plenty of other challenges. That just happened to be a very high scoring challenge.

When I entered this shot in the Seasons challenge I honestly thought it was ribbon material. To me the colors, the bug... they just SCREAM summer.
And then I see the winning photo of a wasp on ciment (great shot by the way!) and I'm still baffled at my 81st place! :-P Must have been too artsy? |
Like it a lot! Maybe the background color didn't bring out enough the subject, but defnitely a nice shot deserving a better rank!
