I missed the mark here! To me, living on a lake, speed boats are all I see. When I saw a family, with two teenagers on a Saturday, slowly paddling along, all I saw was yester-year. I didn't see today at all. I also didn't have the ability to use an in-camera sepia tone or a filter on this camera.

Live and learn. People do vote down photos because they don't meet the challenge. Oouch!

The problem here is the boat is plastic and the viewers are a bit anal. (please forgive me, but that's THE only word that fits)
White balance is off, use the cloudy setting or manually set your white balance. Focus seems strongest on the framing trees, the subjects seem like they are too far away. Must be nice to live on a lovely lake like this. Wonderful setting...boat needed to be wooden to pull off the date. Personally, I would have scored this a 5 or maybe a 6. Partly due to the challenge aspect and partly due to the lack of emphasis on the subject.

Nice natural framing around your main subject. For some reason however it doesn't give me a feeling of the past, did they really have those boats back in 1927?

i can't tell why this is the "past" other than the photo. why not 1928? '52? '89?
