Is there a way to do this with either program? PhotoImpact 12 or Paint Shop Pro. Thanks for any help here.
Plus, while we are here. Both these programs are from the same company now. Anyone know about plans for them to merge functions and dump one program? |

A lot of people around here use PSP. The site is just dead today... weekend.
Anyway... as far as selective desat goes, are you talking about making a whole part of the image color and the rest gray scale ... or only leaving one color?
The former would include both a B&W layer and a Color layer and the use of layer masks. The latter would only require a little use of the Hue/Sat adjustment.

| Thanks. I've never worked with layers. I guess I need to play around with it. I don't have that much time to do heavy post processing. Will give it try. |

Another quick way (depending on the colors in the image) is to desat all colors except for one on the channel mixer. E.g. If you have a red flower on a green background.

Corel PSP Photo XI is the Shiznit. Don't know about photo impact but if Corel has that as well, can't see them putting too much more into it.
I don't do it right in PSP but I do it quickly... I just dup to a new layer, convert to b/w or duotone and erase the color back in. Background eraser in PSP is pretty darn accurate.
