I got this lens a week ago and just love it! The size the images, the solid weight, the sharpness. I am a big fan of Sigma! I prefer this to my Nikon 18-200 VRII for solidness and quality. It feels like a real lens. I would have preferred the Nikon equvalent, but it would have cost me 5 times as much, literally!
Has anyone else out there enjoyed a particular Sigma lens? |

I love my Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro. I wish it were a little faster (like f/2.8!) but for outdoor action its great. Having a macro mode is nice too though its obviously not as good as a dedicated macro lens.

| Congrats! I got the same lens about 3-4 months ago and love it too; I love having 2.8 throughout that range. The "macro" (more like close focusing) works pretty well too, especially when you don't want to haul an extra lens around for the surprise macro subject. |

I used to have the 18-50 f2.8 and the 28-70 f2.8
I gave the 18-50 to the wife, she loves it (i got the nikon 17-35 f2.8) Sadly I had to sell the 28-70 to help pay for the 17-35mm
They make great lenses and the f2.8 all the way is great. Some people do not like that mid-range zoom but I love it. My next purchase may be the 35-70 f2.8 Nikon (I have the older 35-70 f3.3-4.5)
Have fun with your new Sigma, you certainly have a few there and you do fantastic work with them too.

I'd been debating on that lens. I'm glad to hear ya like it.

I have the sigma 105mm macro. Image quality is decent, that's the only good thing I can say about it. I don't do enough macros to bother selling and upgrading it.
However I have borrowed the sigma 100-300 2.8 (believe that was it) and that was a great lense. |

| I have three, and the last one I got, the 28-70MM F2.8, has a good solid build. I love all three, but especially the Sigma 50MM F2.8 EX DG Macro . |

I'm going to be getting a couple of new lenses soon. Glad to hear this lens is well liked, since it was one I was considering. I want one that gives me a little more leeway on the telephoto end than my 18-55, and is faster too.
What would you guys think if you saw a Nikon 50mm f1.4 prime for $65 on ebay? Supposedly in excellent condition with absolutely nothing wrong with the glass, a few scuff marks on the outside of the body.
Either someone doesn't realize it's worth more or they aren't telling the whole truth about it? |

I saw a review in a British Photography Magazine on that lens and it was fantastic. It beat all the others in that area by a long shot.
I was thinking a lot about it, but I really like a solid, heavier lens. The 24-70 is fantastic and great at 2.8. It shines at F4-5.6. |

AF? AF-D? Pre-AI? AI? AI-S? Exactly what are you seeing? Depending on condition you're talking a range of 25 bucks to 300 bucks if a AF-D brand new.
So, it certainly sounds like *you* don't know what they have. On eBay that's a recipe for disaster. I know from experience. ;)
To the OP, I really like my Sigma 180 Macro. I had the 10-20 4-4.5 wide, but it didn't suit me so I sent it back. I'd buy it again if I could get a good copy. I've heard the one you got is the peach of the Sigma line. Enjoy!
