This reminded me of something Lesley ( goodman) told me once, with a tone like the old sayings: "we were so poor, we...", that South Africa's National Flower was a trash bag.
Yeah right, but when Googled, I found Mohammed Valli Moosa, the Environment and Tourism Minister of South Africa, dubbed the thin plastic grocery bags as "roadside daisies" and South Africa's "national flower." They flap from fences, hang in bushes and float on rivers, and have become a national eyesore. Pretty sad.

That is really terrible, and such a sad story.
Africia has so much beauty, that this shouldn't be the way it is. Lesley, goodman if you read this please ad some of Africias flowers to this thread, but NO plastic bags PLEASE.....

The 'Real' national flower is the King Protea. I don't have any pictures of King Proteas, but here is another, more delicate one.
