what is around for free that will allow me to process RAW?

vjoz will have to provide a public link to the ftp site...
I've sent him a PM advising that the upload is complete.

your camera should have come with a free raw converter program (assuming it shoots RAW).

you can also get free trials of Capture One software

I agree with Pagannini, this CD is nothing more than marketing, even if it does have some useful info. You could proably get the same info from books at the library or on the web. I was going to get the CD, but changed my mind because the application did not guarantee my privacy. They could even be selling your personal information you gave them to telemarketing companies. Sorry, but this kind of thing does not sit right by me.

I found the privacy link, but can't access it with my browser...I'm wondering if anyone else is having that problem.

As mag said. Your camera should have come with a program to process RAW images. It is Canon's FileViewer Utility program. Here's the link to the most recent downloads (under drivers).

Of course it is marketing, but it does contain useful info, particularly for those of us who don't have the whole end to end workflow worked out.

Völundur, thanks for hosting this for us poor Europeans : )

It may be an idea to compress & split the file into smaller chunks using rar/winrar. Not only would this make the download smaller, but also if someone gets a corrupted file/interrupted transfer they would have a lot less to re-download.

Y'all know that most recent ftp daemons ( since about 10 years ago ) are resumeable for a broken transfer, right ? You don't have to start it all over again....

She's already zipped, so additional compression would yield little or no decrease in size. Also, most times you can restart a failed download these days, depending of course on what software you're using.
This bugger is huge though, took over 6 hours to upload at 256kbps. Yikes!

Yup, but last time I downloaded anything with IE (okay, about 2 years ago) it didn't have a clue how to resume a download.

I seem to remember that even IE can do this, as long as you don't kill off the dialog box for the previous failed/stalled attempt before you try again...

Haven't used it in a while though
