OK, I lied... That was three, not a couple!

You are making me think hard about getting a F717! Did you do any post-editing?
What are the pros and cons of this camera? I'd love to hear it from you.
Exceptional photos. I really like them all -- but my favorite is the b&w of the parrot. You can see all the details of the feathers... Stunning!
Off to bed for now -- back tomorrow

the colorful birds shot is straight out of the camera, no editing other than resizing.
The gray parrot was converted to black and white using the channel mixer method, then slight levels adjustment. The detail was really great straight out of the camera, but I applied a minimal USM after downsizing.
The macro of the bee is straight out of the camera, no post processing except resize.
The 717 is a great camera. I had a Nikon CP 5700, but I was really frustrated with it. It had some shortcomings that made me want to get rid of it. Fate intervened, and my car was stolen, camera bag with it! I replaced it with the 717 and I've been very happy with it. The only thing that bugs me is that if you switch to manual focusing, it turns off the macro mode.
My biggest complaint about the Nikon was poor autofocus, and the Sony performs very well. I have focused in a pitch black environment with perfect results!
I just ordered a DSLR and lenses, not because I was unhappy with the 717, but just to have more versatility with lenses and to go to 6.3 megapixels. My brother in Germany (user name aiweaver) is buying my 717, so it is already claimed! I certainly recommend the 717... although I've heard the 828 will be out sometime...not sure how long. PM or email me if you have more questions...
You have a nice website, by the way!
Here are other shots I've taken with it:

The repetition in the first one makes it interesting and the black and white really makes you look at the textures in the second one, which you probably wouldn't normally see due to the riot of colour. |

Gorgeous shots. Your choice of grayscale on the maccaw was good. The detail of the feathers stands out more.
Are the birds yours? Do you find that they take a lot of time? We have a couple of cockatiels and considered adding a larger bird to our family but with a new baby and my new photography hobby, I just don't think we could devote the kind of time most birds need.

I took my three boys to the pet store to check out the parakeets. The larger birds require much larger $$$$$$$$
If that were our plan, it will have to wait because I just spent all the parrot money on a 10D!!
I had my camera with me, so I shot a few pics of the birds. Kind of like being at the zoo, but a shorter drive and no lions!!
