I was hired to shoot a large family reunion Saturday evening. I took One large photo of all the family, and then smaller individual families. I had my wife print off one 4x6 of their choice of their families, for just $5. I used the Epson 240 picturemate, and it makes spectacular prints. The $5 was really just a teaser, as they could look online later and order more shots at a higher price. But my printer ran out of ink after one person had paid me for their 4x6 print. I went home and made a few adjustments to the RAW file and took it up to the CVS drugstore to print. But the final print looked muddy in my opinion. Nothing like the wonderful originals I saw out of the Epson printer I used.
I guess my questions are: are the printers at CVS substandard? Did I do too much editing and mess up the print? Or is the Epson portable printer really that good that it makes the pictures look exceptional?
Anyone else have any of these problems, and if so, what would you recommend?
Thanks!!

fixed your link
I wouldn't go to CVS. Great for snap shots. www.mpix.com does a great job!
Most of your shots look pretty good.

I have used snapfish before didn't know about the coupons though. I'll have to check that out.

DPC Prints is the best printing service I've ever used.
You don't have to post your shots for sle to get prints from DPC Prints. |

Places like CVS will vary from location to location. The quality of their printing depends on the people who work there and how well they maintain the equipment they are using. This will be true for any one-hour lab.

For quick turn-around times, Costco does 4x6 prints nicely for 17 cents. They also have printer profiles available online to fine tune your photos for that specific printer. You can even put copyright info or whatever on the back. |

That's where I get almost all of mine done as well, though you have to be a Costco member. Also great for enlargements, with a 1-4 hour turnaround time; 8x10/8x12 for $1.49, and 12x18 for $2.99. |

I got a few prints done at Sam's Club last night and, as with Costco, you have to have a membership there. But the prints turned out VERY nice with great detail and color. $0.17 for 4x6 and $1.19 for 8x10, can't go wrong with that. Going to go back for a large print (16x20 or more) soon so we'll see how that works.
