In my hometown in Kansas, there is a photo contest for the phone book cover. Right now is a horrible picture on it, not sharp, angle is all wrong and color is bland (it's of a bobcat even). Anyway, I want to WOW people and WIN this contest and have my photo on the cover of the next phone book. Anyway, here are a few photos, I can't make up my mind which one I should submit. Sorry if the photos are too large, but I don't have a full membership here. Any thoughts you have are appreciated. I guess we could do this like a voting thing almost. I have numbered the photos.

They are all nice, but for a phone book cover, I'd say #3 hands down!! My fave anyway. Nice job! |

No. 1
The other does not seem friendly enough for a phone book cover |

remember to think of the photo your choose as not the most interesting photo, but the most representative of the community at large, I think that would have the best chance at winning. I choose 3 :) |

I vote for number one! Is this a full page print or just a little corner? Number three won't work for a full page because of its orientation. |

It would be the 1/2 front cover of the cover. the top half of the cover. |

Your town has flowers that grow half as large as houses? Or damn small houses...
I would go with #3 as well. |

Sounds like #3 is the winner, if for nothing else than it's already landscape cropped. Can't fit a portrait on half a page without lots of whitespace. |

ok, so it turns out I can submit as many pictures as I want to. But I have a question, if you lived in Kansas what kind of picture would you want to see on a phone book cover? I know I would want to see something of taste, and a real photograph, not just some snapshot. something that depicts rural kansas. What do you think?

Yeah, in Kansas the sunflowers grow tall as 2 story houses sometimes. I know we have a bunch that are towering our house. |

My pick would be number one as well - I love the use of selective desat. |

Nice shots definitely, but I cant say ive ever seen a phone book with a black and white image on the front. Usually they opt for lively color images that jump out. |

I noticed that with the other entries, that there were no black and white photos. So I am going to select a few others and get opinions here as well. Thank you ajdelaware for pointing that out to me. |

I'm somewhat partial to the sunflower (tall one) and the old house in this set. And #1 in the first set. I can submit all of these if I choose to. But I don't want to over do it. Ya know? |

You have some really nice shots to pick from! The turtle shot is nice but probably wouldn't get picked. My fav is the sunset, if you live in Kansa then maybe the flower shots or any wide open feild shots you got. Sumbit as many as you have if they let you! Good luck and regardless if you win you have some beautiful shots! |
